Duties
The Energy, Climate, and Environment Unit is seeking one or more economists to analyze the effects on the federal budget and the economy of climate change, policies to mitigate or adapt to climate change, and related issues. The Energy, Climate, and Environment Unit conducts research and analysis on topics of interest to the Congress, including the effects of climate change, climate change policy, and related energy and environmental issues. Recent analyses have focused on the effects of climate change on the nations economic output, channels through which climate change affects the federal budget, and analyses of climate change policies in the electric power and transportation sectors. In the coming year, the unit will expand its capacity to model the effects of climate change and climate change policy on the budget and the economy.

TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must have either a Ph.D. in economics (or a related discipline) or a masters degree with five years of relevant experience. They should have strong quantitative and modeling skills; preference will be given to candidates with experience modeling energy markets or systems that are important sources of climate change related emissions. Applicants should also be able to initiate and complete research projects independently and work as part of a team. Finally, they should be interested in working on issues of interest to the Congress and able to effectively communicate their work to nontechnical audiences.

EDUCATION:
Applicants must have either a Ph.D. in economics (or a related discipline) or a masters degree with five years of relevant experience.
