Scheduling and Event CoordinatorThe George Mason University, Office of University Events, invites applications for a Scheduling and Event Coordinator role at the University level, working with a wide variety of clients, service providers and administrators. George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.Responsibilities:The Scheduling and Event Coordinator is responsible for managing and facilitating events for both on and off-campus constituencies, both in-person and virtually. Personal integrity is essential, along with a commitment to the goals and objectives of the Office of University Branding.This position reports to the Manager of Events of the Office of University Events. Internal relationships include colleagues within the Office of Branding, and colleagues within the broader university.Required Qualifications:Outstanding interpersonal skills to work effectively with a diverse audience including alumni, donors, faculty, staff, students and the university community;Understanding the importance of timing with respect to food service and programming in the course of an event;Demonstrated verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills;Demonstrated project management skills and ability to balance competing priorities, complex situations and tight deadlines;Careful attention to detail with a high level of organized and analytical thinking;Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, along with the ability to quickly adapt to other internal software training;Ability to work collaboratively as a team player within University Events as a representative of the university;Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends;Must have a valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation;Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, marketing or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience; andSome (generally two (2)+ years) professional experience in meeting/event coordination preferably in higher education, or related experience in an association, corporate or industry related environment.Preferred Qualifications:CMP and/or CMM professional designation preferred. Professional certification such as CMP, CMM, CGMP or CSEP preferred.
