Job Announcement

Provides a full range of professional support to the executive director and the Police Civilian Review Panel (PCRP). This position works under direct supervision of the e xecutive director and specific duties include:

  • Assists with the intake and dissemination of public complaints; responds to Virginia Freedom of Information Act (VFOIA) requests and maintains records in compliance with VFOIA; ensures that deadlines for PCRP matters are monitored and adhered to; maintains the PCRP public website; manages social media platforms and expands social media presence; and provides data and technical support.
  • Assists the Executive Director with research, policy development, data analysis, and project management; prepares correspondence on behalf of the Executive Director and the PCRP; coordinates with Executive Director and PCRP Chair to insure proper communication with members of the public, Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) Command Staff, and the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.
  • Provides logistical support for the PCRP meetings; attends meetings and prepares agendas and other meeting materials; takes meeting notes, prepares summaries, and reports.
  • Supports the administrative functions of the department, including technology, finance, budgetary analysis, and procurement; other duties as assigned.

Note: The assigned functional areas of this position are data analysis, communications, project management, and public administration.

Schedule: While the office hours are defined as 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., work hours outside of regular business hours may be required on occasion. This may include after-hours, weekends, and/or holidays.

  • Conducts professional-level work in functions or activities, such as financial, budgetary, procurement, contract administration, human resources, training, information technology, and similar functions;
  • Assists with a variety of technical and professional work related to monitoring and reporting on departmental business processes, activities, and outcomes;
  • Performs designated segments of projects or programs with well-defined objectives, including activities such as data collection, synthesis of data gathered to support analysis, and documentation of findings and recommendations;
  • Performs data collection activities in support of existing studies, projects or programs, including conducting research; participating in interviews; administering customer, organizational or employee surveys; assisting in the facilitation of focus groups; participating in work group collaboration; and mapping or charting of workflow processes;
  • Assists with measuring and analyzing indicators of performance, quality, quantity and efficiency of services;
  • Compiles and provides business information to management;
  • Maintains index or log of standard forms for gathering information from a variety of audiences;
  • Formats data sets and performs qualitative and descriptive statistical analysis to aggregate and assimilate data for displaying potential patterns and trends;
  • Assists in implementing business improvements, such as changes to policies, work practices, processes and procedures;
  • Contributes to position papers, evaluation reports and presentations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Any combination, experience, and training equivalent to") Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in the field related to the assigned functional area.

BRIDGE CLASS EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:
Four years of increasingly complex technical experience in the assigned functional area, comparable to experience at the Admin Assistant IV, or higher, level.

This class can serve as a bridge class enabling individuals who do not meet the educational or professional experience standards listed above to qualify for this class by possessing four years of increasingly complex technical experience in the assigned functional area, comparable to experience at the Admin Assistant IV, or higher, level.

The purpose of this bridge class is to promote upward mobility within the Fairfax County workforce. However, persons qualifying for this class on the basis of their technical experience may not substitute this technical experience for education, or for professional experience, in order to qualify for other employment opportunities.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Superior project management support proficiency.
  • Experience in research, data analysis, public administration, and policy development.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing correspondence for the public or external audiences; and composing reports or meeting summaries.
  • Experience working with elected officials, boards and/or commissions.
  • Technical savvy, to include word processing, spreadsheet development, desktop publishing and presentation development.
  • Ability to use statistical analysis software packages to store, manipulate, analyze, and present data.
  • Social Media administration.
  • Ability to identify possible solutions to address complex matters.
  • Ability to review, handle, and protect personnel and/or other confidential information.
  • Knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques governing management, organizational operations, and service delivery.
  • Working knowledge of Virginia Freedom of Information Act (VFOIA) requirements.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position is primarily sedentary in nature; however, visual acuity to work on electronic equipment such as a computer monitor, typing on a keyboard, and are essential to this position. Ability to lift up to 15 pounds. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
