Dewberry Architects Inc. (Dewberry) invites applications for a full time Facility Planner position within our national architecture practice to work in our Fairfax, Virginia office, or remotely. The selected candidate will work under the supervision of a facility planner and architects and be expected to travel to project sites in the US when necessary, up to 10-25% of the time.

Responsibilities

Minimum Essential Skills/Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's Degree (preferred)
  • in planning, urban design, architecture or related field
  • with an interest in criminal justice and/or federal government projects

OR
  • in criminology, planning, public administration, psychology, economics, or other similar fields,
  • with the ability to think spatially (the ability to visualize in three dimensions), as evidenced through education or work skills/experience.


Ability and desire to pursue American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) credential

Required Skills & Required Experience

ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
  • Statistical/quantitative analysis capabilities, including data collection, cleaning, analysis, and forecasting.
  • Graphical representations of findings in charts, graphs, or other visual tools to illustrate findings using SmartSheets, PowerBI, Tableau, or similar.
  • High level technical writing skills, excellent grammar, spelling, punctuation, and familiarity with how to reference, footnote, and otherwise document research.
  • Research ability - the capability to canvas existing online and other materials to determine a basic working knowledge of new subject matter as needed for each project, and to collaborate with specialists in a wide range of arenas as needed.
  • Presentation skills - the personality and presence to stand confidently in front of a group and speak convincingly about known content.
  • Some publishing abilities - the ability to use standard publishing software and balance color, style, and content on a page or slide. (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Adobe InDesign)
  • Document publication skills -including headers/footers, inserting graphics into a document, and completing the document with Table of Contents, page numbers, and similar, using Microsoft Word and InDesign.
  • Detail oriented - able to assist in quality control, as per the Dewberry QA/QC process.


Must have a valid driver's license, good driving record and ability to pass a driving record background check.
