Design Standards Manager: Cafe, Branches and Capital One Airport Lounges

This candidate will collaborate with the entire design team to create and maintain design and performance standards across all of our design verticals (i.e. branches, cafes, and airport lounges). You will be joining a dynamic, highly skilled, and forward-thinking team that you will need to complement and challenge.

This position requires a keen eye for details, to help create scalable solutions and drive the team forward. While the team strives for creative solutions, we do that in a well-managed way to ensure compliance to our codes and guidelines are met. You will be a major contributor to bringing science to the art of design.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act the main point of contact for all design standards to assist all cross functional teams and consultants in finding, updating and documenting architectural design standards.
  • Solicit information for future design change bulletins (DCB), work with both internal and external partners to detail all updates to issue quarterly (and ad-hoc) updates in a well-managed process
  • Review and enforce building codes and ADA requirements across for all projects at multiple project checkpoints, both internally and using an external consultancy to ensure full compliance with building and accessibility codes and regulations.
  • Review and negotiate professional fees, contracts and agreements and develop standard project schedules.
  • Maintain and enforce a strict file management system for all design work, continue to optimize and tweak that system to help create a seamless path for the design managers on the team.
  • Assist our architects with permit preparation documents, submissions and follow up to ensure timely reviews and approvals.


A great candidate will have:

  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and priorities at very tight and competitive deadlines.
  • In depth knowledge of building codes and ADA regulations.
  • Hands on knowledge of construction documents, detailing and design process in the retail or hospitality industries.
  • Working knowledge of justrictional and government permitting processes.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors' degree or military experience
  • At least 7 years of experience in developing and maintaining global design standards.
  • At least 5 years of experience working with AutoCAD & Revit, and Google apps.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors' degree in architecture, engineering, interior design, industrial design or a similar field.
  • Experience within the retail or hospitality sectors.
