Duties

Major duties included, but are not limited to:
  • Works with research participants for technical assistance throughout the enrollment process.
  • Takes consideration of feedback and suggestions to improve the enrollment platform from both internal and external end users.
  • Leads training sessions for all end users to promote the use and functionality of the enrollment platform.
  • Implements data abstraction, data collection, and data management procedures from the input provided by the enrolled research participants within the national registry.
  • Ensures the accuracy of the data gathered to ensure that the data bank is updated daily.
  • Monitors the enrollment registry portal to ensure that the platform is operational at all times to avoid study personnel and research participants experiencing delay in their enrollment and participation in the enrolled research studies.
  • Addresses portal errors in a timely fashion and expediates issues to the appropriate chain of command


Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 07/01/2022.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.

Basic Education Requirement: Applicants MUST have a Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (external link) at the time the degree was obtained. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
  • Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
    • Working with research registries that involve human subject research studies.
    • Skill in databases, excel spreadsheets, statistical software and analysis of the data.
    • Skilled in basic data gathering methods.
    • Conducting health services research.
    • Developing and maintaining systems and databases for research projects.
    • Collecting data from staff or study participants through interviews and surveys.
    • Coding data and summarizing in tables and graphs
OR,
  • Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have have 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree.
OR,
  • Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond. i.e., 6 months of appropriate experience equivalent to GS-7 (50 percent of the experience requirement for GS-9) and 27 semester hours of appropriate graduate education (50 percent of the education requirement for GS-9, in excess of that required for GS-7) would be qualified for a GS-9 position (assuming that there is no evidence that the attended college or university requires more than 18 semester hours as equivalent to a year of graduate study).

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: ???????The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform portions of the work. However, there is periodic walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items such as medical records, instructional material, books, and manuals. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

Receiving Service Credit or Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee.
