Overview

Wish of a Lifetime from AARP (WOL) grants wishes to people 65-plus connecting them to their passions in recognition of their special accomplishments, contributions, and sacrifices. WOL helps people achieve long-held goals while also combatting the negative effects of isolation and strengthening social ties and intergenerational connections.

As the Field Manager of the Midwest Region, you will manage existing local relationships while cultivating new volunteer partnerships to achieve the organization's volunteer engagement goals. In this position, you will develop, advise, coordinate, and collaborate on strategic volunteer engagement projects and technologies; this includes anticipating volunteer needs and designing materials, processes, E-trainings, and programs to maximize volunteer engagement. The Field Manager also assists volunteers, staff partners, and external volunteer organizations across multiple channels to ensure individuals can effectively contribute to organizational Wish sourcing and community engagement goals.

Responsibilities

  • Anticipates volunteer needs and designs materials, processes, procedures, and programs.
  • Develops and implements volunteer training and volunteer leadership programs meant to strategically grow volunteer network.
  • Recruits, trains, develops, and deploys volunteers in accordance with organizational goals. Aligns volunteers' interests with organizational priorities.
  • Supports regional needs and designs opportunities to maximize community engagement in WOL's wish sourcing program. Ensures inclusion of volunteer perspectives in strategic planning.
  • Works with cross-functional teams in the advancement of regional as well as national strategies and goals.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of program, product or event management experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated success building internal and external strategic partnerships and collaborations; experience working in this sector, within the region.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
  • Independent judgment and discretion.
  • Highly developed problem-solving skills, team player, with an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Must live in Minneapolis, MN and/or surrounding areas.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% travel within the Region.

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
