Overview

Wish of a Lifetime from AARP (WOL) grants wishes to people 65-plus connecting them to their passions in recognition of their special accomplishments, contributions, and sacrifices. WOL helps people achieve long-held goals while also combatting the negative effects of isolation and strengthening social ties and intergenerational connections.

As the Manager of Wish Fulfillment, you will spearhead the execution of WOL's Wish Granting program and manage a team of Wish Fulfillment Specialists and interns to achieve shared objectives. In this position, you will oversee wish granting activities while evaluating the program to identify improvements and measure outcomes. The Manager is also responsible for collaborating with the leadership team to identify opportunities, execute cross-functional initiatives, develop procedures that support WOL, and further strategic objectives on behalf of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Hires, develops, and manages a high performing team of Program Operations staff members
  • Maintains caseload of 12 wishes and grants 30 wishes annually
  • Ensures effective management of all operational areas related to wish fulfillment including budgeting and compliance with WOL and AARP policies, processes, and procedures
  • Identifies, analyzes, and recommends alternative solutions to a wide range of operational, management, and administrative problems
  • Collaborates with other departments to enhance and promote wishes
  • Attends wishes and events that require on-the-ground logistical support and assistance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience related to the responsibilities outlined, including management of direct reports
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and a proven ability to drive results by effectively managing and motivating others
  • Proven ability to organize and successfully manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously with limited oversight
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and meet challenging deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills; demonstrated skills in writing, proofreading and research with attention to accuracy and detail
  • Highly developed problem-solving skills and team player with an entrepreneurial mindset
  • In-office/open office environment with the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise
  • Ability to travel required

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.

Compensation and Benefits

AARP offers a competitive compensation and benefits package including a 401(k); 100% company-funded pension plan; health, dental, and vision plans; life insurance; paid time off to include company and individual holidays, vacation, sick, caregiving, and parental leave; performance-based and peer-based recognition; tuition reimbursement; among others.

For this position, we anticipate offering a salary between $72,000.00 to $84,000.00 per year. This role is also eligible to participate in an annual incentive plan with a percentage up to 12%. Bonus eligibility is dependent upon organizational and individual performance.
