Overview

Older Adults Technology Services from AARP (OATS) advocates for technology inclusion for the 50-plus, providing digital literacy training and programming to older adults. With nearly two decades of experience and insights on how older people interact with technology as well as its flagship programs like Senior Planet, OATS uses its resources to create world-class programs that form the basis for systems change.

The Manager serves as the lead regional representative in the organization's north strategic market. They are responsible for coordinating with national program leaders on the delivery of programming through various product channels including in-person and virtual for which supervision of local program personnel is required. They must understand and implement the organization's broader strategies within the region, including supporting productive relationships with local and regional third-party entities upon which the organization relies for success, such as local funders and AARP State offices. They are responsible for promoting Senior Planet marketing and communications efforts in their market. They will collaborate with senior leadership to provide regular updates and reporting on the region's success measures and assists with the development of new strategies to more effectively connect with older adults and organizational partners in the region.

Responsibilities

  • Works with OATS leadership and local staff to develop and implement an overall project plan for the region and concurrently oversees program delivery, communications, and invoicing
  • Contributes to and directs detailed plans for budgets, timelines, reporting, and other project management tools, including programming and training schedules
  • Ensures that program outcomes are achieved and that OATS's individual program survey instruments are deployed
  • Reports key program metrics and other results on a regular basis to funders and OATS
  • Identifies, assesses, establishes and maintains relationships with external partners throughout the region, including AARP state offices, as well as other local and statewide aging organizations, various corporations and philanthropic funders, government officials, and media representatives
  • Forms support coalitions of local partners who will help support the expansion of the Senior Planet brand in the region
  • Promotes the program to media outlets, elected officials, corporations and other potential funders
  • Regularly collaborate with OATS leadership on program planning, best practices, and overall management of Senior Planet in the region

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human services, business or other related field required, MA preferred
  • Preferably 5+ years' experience with 3+ years managing programs and staff, preferably in a non-profit setting
  • Strong customer service orientation with a proven ability to forge strong connections with external partners
  • Interpersonal communication skills, especially the ability to communicate complex ideas and issues in a simple and straightforward manner
  • Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams in dynamic and fast-paced setting
  • Experienced in regularly reporting program outputs, scope and scale to leadership
  • Experience with SalesForce required
  • Independent judgment and discretion with the ability to compare and evaluate various courses of conduct and make a decision
  • In-office/open office environment with the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise
  • This position is responsible for program activities in the northeast; the position resides in the OATS Brooklyn, NY office


Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.

Compensation and Benefits

AARP offers a competitive compensation and benefits package including a 401(k); 100% company-funded pension plan; health, dental, and vision plans; life insurance; paid time off to include company and individual holidays, vacation, sick, caregiving, and parental leave; performance-based and peer-based recognition; tuition reimbursement; among others.

For this position we anticipate offering a salary between $81,000.00 and $95,000.00 per year. This role is also eligible to participate in an annual incentive plan with a percentage up to 12%. Bonus eligibility is dependent upon organizational and individual performance.
