AARP's Policy, Research and International Affairs leads the development and communication of AARP's public policies and, research and insights on the issues that matter to people 50-plus.

The Long-Term Services and Support Project Manager participates in the implementation of assigned projects, coordinates and completes activities in support of overall project. As the Manager, you will track progress against milestones, budgets, or other performance indicators, and prepares reports.

Responsibilities

  • Provides day-to-day project management to support grant activities, projects and events related to the Long-Term Services and Support (LTSS) State Scorecard including communications with team members at AARP, the grant funders, and external advisors.
  • Maintains and revises project work plans as strategies are devised, updates timelines, deliverable schedule, and quality checking processes carried out as desired by management and the funders.
  • Plans agendas and facilitates meetings and regular check-in calls with internal team, with funders and with external advisory groups.
  • Manages communications with external advisors, drafting messages, proactively anticipating and responding quickly to questions, researching and preparing meeting materials, and managing logistics to support seamless and active engagement.
  • Serves as an active member of the planning and implementation teams, provides input and insight, as appropriate, about how best to achieve grant goals, and helps coordinate and connect team members working on related tasks.
  • Researches state policy to inform Scorecard findings as needed.
  • Designs, writes, edits, and fact-checks management reports and presentations for funders, internal team members and external advisors.
  • Actively involved in monitoring and tracking time-sensitive tasks and events, progress and troubleshooting issues, facilitating decision-making by management, and escalating issues to management as needed.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience related to the duties of the position.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Some experience in communications is preferred, especially with new technologies and social media.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels and across multiple departments.
  • Advanced proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • In-office/open office environment with the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise.

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the

United States and its territories.
