AARP's Integrated Communications and Marketing (ICM) Group includes Membership, Content and Editorial, Customer Experience, External Relations, Brand Strategy and Strategic Communications. The Director Multimedia Production/Executive Editor directs production on multi-channel platforms. Collaborates with cross-function teams to evaluate production needs and to establish project timelines. Works with producers and editorial teams to develop creative content proposals, scripts, and storyboards for production and to implement content strategies over multi-channel platforms. Ensures that the final product adheres to established standards, timelines, and budgets and accurately conveys the desired message. Collaborates with senior management to identify opportunities and develop strategic multimedia plans that will position the organization for success.

Responsibilities

  • Directs the production process for digital and other content platforms.
  • Works with editorial teams and internal stakeholders to ensure that the presentation and performance of digital content engages the 50+ demographic and amplifies AARP's social mission.
  • Ensures that digital production is seamless and efficient, adheres to publishing and digital best practices, and enhances the user experience.
  • Builds and maintains constructive and productive partnerships with AARP internal and external stakeholders to cultivate digital innovation and develop new multiplatform products.
  • Collaborates with senior management and internal stakeholders to develop short- and long-term digital production strategies that support content priorities and help grow impact, relevance, and revenue.
  • Employs digital analytics tools and other resources to develop an in-depth understanding of the 50+ audience; analyzes content performance and identifies opportunities for sustainable growth of AARP's existing and emerging content platforms.
  • Oversees, guides, and manages staff and external production contributors.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of demonstrated digital editorial experience at a major multimedia publisher, including substantial management experience.
  • Deep experience with content management systems, publishing workflows, digital asset management, and APIs.
  • Strong background in designing and creating innovative digital formats and using digital assets to help authors develop compelling narratives and engaging storytelling across multiple platforms.
  • A thorough understanding of the consumer digital experience and expertise in SEO and digital content strategies, marketing, and distribution.
  • 3+ years of people management experience and 5+ years of experience in successful collaborations with IT, product management, UX, and information architecture stakeholders.
  • Broad knowledge of AARP and issues of greatest importance to the organization, its demographic, and its membership.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with digital and non-digital business partners, as well as cross-functional teams and executive leadership.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to prioritize and multitask while driving results.
  • In-office/open office environment with the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise.

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
