The Learning Tech, Design, and Brand team combines creativity with innovation to power associates to learn and lead. The team does this by finding and building technology solutions that enable seamless and unified learning experiences, by designing solutions that inspire associates to grow, and by growing the L&D brand internal and external to Capital One. The work is done in collaboration with stakeholders from across Learning & Development, HR, People Tech, Risk, and the Lines of Business.

Who We're Looking For:

We're looking for an analytically minded professional who not only cares about their team but seeks for creative ways to innovate on behalf of the learner and elevate the L&D brand!

In the Senior Director of Learning Tech, Design, and Brand role you will act as a leader for your team of product managers, system administrators, operations experts, creative designers, and brand and communication specialists. You will seek to help your leaders influence their team members to reach their individual and team goals. You will deliver on L&D priorities, including those related to the optimal utilization of learning technologies like the learning management system, the learning experience platform, and custom applications built to support learning needs. You will partner with others on the senior L&D leadership team to provide high-quality, creative solutions to the business efficiently and effectively. You will influence brand, marketing, and communications strategy and drive the execution of the roadmap.

In addition, in this role you will collaborate closely with your peers on the L&D leadership team to set vision and strategy for the organization and prioritize the work around achieving that vision and strategy.

Roles and responsibilities:
  • Develop team vision and strategy for learning tech, design, and brand
  • Inspire people leaders on the team to align to the vision and deliver on their priorities
  • Drive the product vision for Learning & Development
  • Influence partners in People Technology, Risk, L&D, and HR
  • Manage budget and vendor strategy
  • Align with L&D leaders across the organization on creative design priorities
  • Coach leaders and associates to improve competencies and results
  • Join strategic efforts with peers and executives across the organization
  • Lead the performance and talent management efforts for your teams
  • Establish relationships with key partners to further the vision and strategy
  • Stay current on industry trends in learning, technology, and design
  • Set clear expectations, provide clear and direct feedback, and provide opportunities for growth
  • Accelerate the establishment of a learning data ecosystem that supports dashboards, recommendation engines, nudges, insights, and integrated learning experiences


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Military experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in instructional design or learning experience design
  • At least 5 years of experience in product management and user centered design
  • At least 5 years of experience leading and implementing learning strategies
  • At least 5 years of experience in people leadership


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Education, Human Resources, Instructional Design, Learning and Development, or Organizational Design or Effectiveness
  • At least 7 years of experience in managing a corporate learning function
  • At least 5 years of experience in managing educational software products from design to implementation
  • At least 7 years of experience working within or closely with Human Resources or Learning and Development functions in a technology or product-centric organization that is fast-paced or agile
  • At least 5 years of experience managing UI or UX designers, graphic designers, and video designers
  • Experience leading strategic data initiatives in Learning, HR, or related areas
  • Experience leading and partnering on enterprise technology implementations and solutions
  • Knowledge of emerging and innovative technologies
  • Vendor management experience
