Duties
As a Fuel Distribution System Worker (Title 32), WG-5413-07, you will perform the below duties:
(1) Receives and issues bulk petroleum products such as gasoline, diesel, and/or aircraft fuel. Inspects carrier transportation for proper seals, safety requirements, and environmental control devices, before loading or unloading fuels; connects grounding wire to fuel transport vehicles; hooks up hoses; and manipulates controls for valves and pumps to regulate the flow of fuels in a safe and efficient manner. Takes samples of fuel for laboratory analysis. checks fuel for stray water content using paste and measuring tape; reads meters; uses gage stick or uses plumb bob, tape and capacity tables to determine gross volume received; takes temperature reading; measures API gravity of fuel; and uses tables to convert volume at tank temperature to gross volume at API standard temperature. Records gage, scale, and/or meter readings, volumes of fuel received and issued, and receipts for fuel.
(2) Assists in daily, weekly, and monthly inventories of fuel supplies by using plumb bob, tape and paste to measure water and fuel content of tanks. Supplies measurements to a higher level Distribution Worker who completes inventory of tanks.
(3) Advises higher level worker on current levels of petroleum products to ensure availability of supply.
(4) Performs general maintenance work such as cutting grass, changing hoses, replacing broken glass on meters, etc.
(5) Performs other duties as assigned.

TEMPORARY APPOINTMENT - Selected applicant will receive a temporary appointment Not to Exceed 1 October 2021. The appointment may be ex-tended up to a maximum of 1 additional year (24 months of total service).
WHO CAN APPLY:
GROUP I - All qualified Male/Female Enlisted Personnel (E1/PVT-E7/SFC) currently employed (permanent) in the Virginia Army National Guard Military Technician Program.
GROUP II - All qualified Virginia Army National Guard Male/Female Enlisted Personnel (E1/PVT-E7/SFC) regardless of employment status (Traditional, Military Technician or AGR). To be considered as a Group II applicant, proof of appointment/enlistment in the Virginia National Guard must be attached if the appointment/enlistment occurred within 60 days prior to, or during, the advertisement period.
GROUP III - Individuals eligible for membership in the Virginia Army National Guard
Military Grades: Enlisted Personnel (E1/PVT-E7/SFC)
GENERAL EXPERIENCE : Applicant must have experience or training which demonstrates the ability to follow instructions and to safely operate the type of equipment required to accomplish the duties of the position.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : Applicant must have at least 12 months of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the WG-06 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government? This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the WG grade indicated. This experience must include activities such as:
Experience or training working in activities such as large fuel depots or fuel farms with complex, interconnecting line and pipe arrangements, and frequent requirements for large scale movement and transfer of a variety of liquid fuels Experience operating one or more relatively routine work stations and demonstrating skill in manipulating a few controls to regulate the flow of the liquids in a safe and efficient manner. Experience or training pumping gasoline, oil, jet fuel, or other similar products, handling lines and hoses at dock operations, and measuring fuels as they are received, stored, transferred, or loaded into equipment. Experience performing general maintenance work such as cutting grass, changing hoses, replacing broken glass on meters, etc.
