Job Summary:

The Finance and Administration Division (FAD) of the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) seeks a Manager, Contracts & Grants for its Contracts and Grants Unit. This is a one-year, full-time, exempt, renewable appointment based in IFPRI’s headquarters in Washington, DC.

 

Essential Duties:

 

  • Manage contract processing which includes review and process of collaborator agreements and amendments, ensuring compliance with IFPRI and donor/client requirements. Collaborate and coordinate with research division’s contracts and grants managers. Negotiate with collaborator/consultants especially with US universities on general provision. Manage donor contract processing that requires review of donor agreements/contracts and ensuring IFPRI’s principles are considered and there are no inconsistencies. Correspond with donors about guidelines, requirements, submission of reports and resolution of issues. Manage requisition processing by reviewing and approving consultant requisitions through procurement platform. Ensure that the terms of the requisition fit for consultancy and not for an employee. Maintenance and update of automated and integrated financial system, which includes project set up, budget entry, deliverables, and other relevant entries. Facilitate close out of expired contracts in close coordination with financial reporting unit and research divisions. Undertake other relevant tasks as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Financial Management, Business Administration or related field. Minimum of seven years relevant experience preferably in international not for profit organization or prior grant/contract work experience. Experience and knowledge of government grants/contracts, USAID regulations, and other key funders’ (i.e., FCDO, EC, DFATD) requirements. Knowledge and experience in working in a computerized accounting system preferably Deltek/Costpoint. High degree of attention to details. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency. Proficiency in use of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and other computer applications. Ability to work in a multicultural environment as a team player.

 Physical Demand & Work Environment:

  • Employee will sit in an upright position for a long period of time with little opportunity to move/stretch. Employee will lift between 0-10 pounds. Employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing computer terminal; extensive reading.
