Duties

  • You will develop and revise guideline materials to transportation programs.
  • You will collect and transportation data necessary to meet program needs.
  • You will monitor transportation programs to accomplish budgetary objectives.
  • You will make continuing appraisals and conduct special studies of transportation requirements, utilization factors, effective assignment of vehicles, and increasing or decreasing vehicle/equipment assets.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.


Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Managing and/or providing technical guidance on all facets of transportation and vehicle management of rented or leased motor vehicles; 2) Implementing a budget to include reprogramming and tracking of funds; and 3) Utilizing computer programs to pull and analyze data to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of transportation operations.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Education

The following education may be substituted for specialized experience: A master's or equivalent degree; OR two full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a master's degree; OR an LL.B or J.D. that is related to the position being filled; OR a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.

A 40 hour work week is typical of this position.

Physical Demands: Little physical activity is required, but can include walking, bending, climbing, crawling, and stooping. Driving is required to visit work sites and customer offices and facilities.

Work environment: A majority of the work is performed indoors where the employee works under the pressure of competing priorities and deadlines. Work may also be performed periodically in various surroundings including waterfront, industrial, residential, and construction work sites. Exposed to normal hazards associated with construction work, industrial operations and prevailing weather conditions.
