Full Time

  • Receive, authenticate, and vet visitors entering an installation.
  • Respond to and/or contain crisis or urgent situations including accidents; man-made, biological, chemical, radiological, or natural disasters; or other incidents that could result in harm to people, property, or the environment.
  • Control access to the installation/Federal property and restricted areas, identify security risks, and provide traffic management.
  • Apply requirements for equipping and securing government and contractor facilities to guard against unauthorized access, identify suspicious activities, and ensure continuity of operation.
  • Operate security-related equipment (both manual and automated) or devices.


Conditions of Employment

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a favorable T-3 level personal background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and sustain state certification for the NCIC, National Crime Information Center, terminal.
  • Must maintain requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP) in accordance with AR 190-56, The Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program.
  • Must complete and pass a pre-employment drug test and then annually through random testing thereafter.
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts which may include fluctuating tours of duty to include evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment and recurring medical examination (physical, emotional and mental stability).
  • Must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification, and must qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms/weapons.
  • Must successfully complete the security guard training program.
  • Must obtain and maintain CPR certification and First Aid training.
  • Must not have any medical conditions preventing the wear of the chemical mask if required. May be required to wear personal protective equipment including chemical mask.
  • Must pass the initial physical ability test (PAT) within the first 30 days of employment and pass the annual test thereafter. The PAT consist of 19 pushups in 2 minutes and run 1.5 miles within 17:30 minutes.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
  • Must wear the Department of the Army Security Guard (DASG) uniform IAW AR 190-56, maintain a high state of appearance and hygiene.
  • Must obtain and maintain certification in operating electronic equipment and sensors.
  • Must meet requirements under 18 USC 922(g)(9) (The Lautenberg Amendment); and sign the DD Form 2760 (Qualification to Possess Firearms or Ammunition).
  • Must be able to perform as a member of the installation overall security response capability. Duty and training required is to carry and deploy riot baton, carry a protective shield, and employ non-lethal ammunitions if necessary.

Specialized Experience: One year of experience which includes performing installation access control; Use physical access control equipment; Safeguard personnel, information, and critical assets; Record visitor information and determine whether appropriate authorization for access exists. The definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed equivalent to the next lower grade/position in Federal Service (GS-05).
