  • You will serve as a Supervisor in the Fluids Engineering Laboratory Branch of the Technical Support Department.
  • You will direct the operation of a group of labs responsible for designing and writing specifications in support of faculty, midshipmen and visiting researchers.
  • You will oversee the design, development, construction and testing of advanced engineering devices in the area of fluid dynamics.
  • You will manage a budgetary system sub-cost center for both expense and investment accounts in support of all equipment and systems.

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Planning, developing and coordinating the methods and procedures for the purchase, verification testing, installation, operation, maintenance and repair of equipment and systems; 2) Working with design, development, construction and testing of advanced engineering devices and equipment; 3) Giving technical guidance to individuals and groups involved in related experimentation, research or development. Demonstrated Supervisory potential is a must.

Physical Demands:
Duties are performed while standing most of the time. Regularly lifting objects up to 40 pounds and occasional lifting and movement of very heavy equipment. This position requires a significant amount of mobility and physical ability including climbing multiple flights of stairs and ladders.

Work Environment:
Work is performed mostly in well lighted laboratories, classrooms, and/or lecture halls. Some exposure to hazards, such as high intensity ultraviolet light sources, Class IIIB and Class IV lasers, mineral oil and glycerin-based smoke, engine exhaust fumes, and various other hazardous materials, such as motor oil, various fuels, alcohol, cutting fluids, and other chemicals. The engine test cell facilities have several pieces of equipment and machinery that generate noise in excess of 85 db. Hearing protection is provided for use by faculty, staff, and students while these facilities are operating. The employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions, dust, dirt, unusual odors, humidity and occasionally uncomfortable temperatures. Accomplishment of assigned duties may require the incumbent to work other than normal duty hours.
