Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. Some college training in Business Administration, Public Relations or related fields is desirable.
Experience in lieu of college training may be considered if the candidate can effectively demonstrate progressively responsible and diversified experience in providing direct services to customers of the ID Office.
Candidates for this position should possess the following: the ability to communicate effectively with the capacity to react calmly and exercise good judgment under pressure with frequently changing priorities; the aptitude to work independently with little or no supervision; the ability to relate well to co-workers, supervisors, and clients; a good working knowledge of personal computers and software applications; and departmental databases and information systems. Also, good attendance and dependability are critical to the job.
License:
Possession of a valid Maryland, Virginia, or District of Columbia motor vehicle operator's permit issued from jurisdiction of residence.
Medical Group:
Ability to satisfactorily complete the medical examination for this position. Must be able to perform the essential functions of this job either with or without reasonable accommodation(s).
Job Summary/Duties:
The incumbent is responsible for the activities to receive, approve, and issue SmarTrip ID Cards to employees, retirees, Board members, Former Board members, Former Officers, and summer youth interns, and SmarTrip Contractor Badges to contractor employees. The incumbent has limited latitude for independent judgment and action within established guidelines. In the absence of the ID Card Program Specialist, incumbent should follow HROS chain of command for guidance. Incumbent also assists with issuance of KRONOS Proximity Cards (time card) to Local 689 employees.
Accepts and approves appropriate documentation for issuance of ID Cards and/or Badges as indicated above.
Advises both regular WMATA employees and/or contractor employees of WMATA policies and procedures regarding issuance of ID Cards and/or Badges.
Accepts payment for lost ID Cards and Badges and reconciles monies for monthly deposit.
Assists with monthly deposit to ES.
Notifies appropriate TRES staff via e-mail of lost/stolen ID cards so that they take necessary action to stop the use of these cards on WMATA properties or using the rail/bus system for free transportation, and providing information for retrieval of parking monies on the lost/stolen ID cards (if any).
Ensures bulk stock of initialized employee ID cards and contractor badges and to maintain inventory of said stock.
Processes a second initialization of SmarTrip ID Cards and SmarTrip Contractor Badges for access to WMATA properties.
Performs contractor background investigation checks (both national and international) and report negative findings to MTPD when necessary. Gives 100% customer service.
Updates and files hard copies of approved contractor background applications and destroying expired applications as required.
Performs stock inventory on a monthly basis to ensure continued productivity of ID Office.
Assists with organizing and monitoring all office projects.
Responds to telephone and walk in inquiries and requests.
