Digital Content Developer, Office of the DeanThe George Mason University Office of the Dean, within the College of Engineering and Computing (CEC), seeks a collaborative, thoughtful, organized, and detail-oriented, Digital Content Developer to support the College in planning and execution of long and short-form digital content for key audiences. George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.Responsibilities:The responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to the duties and tasks below:Digital Content CreationDevelop a steady stream of compelling editorial content, on-message, and on-deadline, for a wide range of digital, print, and social channels, as assigned by the Director of Communications;Assist in executing overarching content strategy for CEC across web platforms and other digital media;Champion a strong user experience across all digital platforms;Collect and analyze web, digital and social metrics using Google analytics; andCommission and edit content from others.Social Media ManagementWork in collaboration with the communications and marketing team, program staff, and external vendors, to create and implement social media marketing strategies and social media content, as well as paid digital ads, for CEC undergraduate and graduate programs and the college overall;Assume management of college social media accounts including Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and others;Translate college goals into social media plans and content calendars; andAttend and photograph/video CEC events, such as guest speakers and graduation, for social media posts.Communications Support for Break Through TechSelect, write, and edit content for publication to inform and inspire internal and external audiences;Build process by creating guides and materials, following best practices, and reviewing;Create collateral for marketing and promotion by designing, ordering, and coordinating distribution of items;Assist with develop a marketing plan, content schedule, performance tracking;Develop channels by tailoring per channel, selecting channels, building followership;Create internal communication: reports, surveys and benchmark tools, write copy and edit for accuracy and clarity, build slide decks, create buy-in, measure, adapt;Draft/edit, pull content for external communications; andDraft/edit create content, measure, reports, adapt as necessary for internal communications.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications; or a combination of education and experience working in an office environment;Good understanding of customer service philosophies;Demonstrated experience (typically at least 1 year) writing and creating content for website and social media distribution;Working knowledge of content management systems (WordPress, Drupal, etc.);Demonstrated computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and video editing software;Prior experience learning new programs quickly and efficiently;Prior experience producing factual, persuasive, creative and timely visual and written content that motivates and inspires target audiences;Prior experience conducting research independently on a variety of issues;Prior experience conducting interviews;Demonstrated ability to edit, multitask, and prioritize tasks;Prior experience exercising sound and independent judgment;Prior experience being highly organized and self-motivated;Prior experience being detail-oriented;Demonstrated experience communicating professionally and effectively while using strong oral and written communications skills; andAbility to travel independently, work some flexible hours, which include some nights and weekends, as well as travel locally.Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree; andDemonstrated experience (typically at least 1 year) in videography or photography, storyboarding and editing.A Force for Innovation in the Heart of Northern Virginia's Technology CorridorThe College of Engineering and Computing (CEC) at George Mason University is comprised of the Volgenau School of Engineering and a new School of Computing.
