Since its inception in 1974, the LEC has recognized the importance of timely, relevant research on public policy matters, as well as the need to communicate research findings to those who shape policy decisions. The LEC is committed to developing original, high-quality law and economics research and education programs that enhance economic understanding and provide a consistent, rational voice that bolsters today's policy discussions.About the Position:The Associate Director, Judicial Education Programs will lead, with guidance from the Leadership Team, activities related to the Judicial Education Program (JEP). The JEP is the LEC's flagship program and is the largest (by number of participants and budget), most recognizable, and longest running division of the LEC. The Associate Director will plan and organize educational programs for state and federal judges, manage the recruiting process to meet the established attendance goals, oversee the execution and management of program events onsite and in person, and build relationships with potential attendees, audience members, supporters, donors, and subject matter experts. The Associate Director will serve as the primary point of contact for the JEP Advisory Board and, with guidance from the Leadership Team, plan and manage board meetings. The Associate Director will have supervisory responsibility over the JEP Coordinator and JEP Program Assistants and be responsible for operating the division within an established budget.Responsibilities:The ideal candidate will plan and execute educational programs for judicial audiences. This person will possess an understanding of the needs of the LEC's judicial constituents and display the ability to interact with judicial constituents on an intellectual and interpersonal level. The successful candidate will work collaboratively across all LEC divisions and assist leadership (Executive Director, Deputy Executive Directors, and Associate Director) in planning and executing the mission, vision, and identity of the Law & Economics Center through its judicial education programs.Required Qualifications:A Master's degree in public policy or equivalent combination of education and experience;Demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communication, including ability to give presentations to large groups;Demonstrate advanced organizational, administrative, and interpersonal skills that indicate an ability to work independently, as well as part of a team;Ability to work effectively and utilize a range of communication channels with LEC program target audiences, faculty, administrators, staff, and members of the judicial community;Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite;Demonstrated knowledge of the powers and duties of federal and state judges;Demonstrated knowledge of the judicial process;Exposure through past or current employment situations to interpersonal interactions in formal and informal educational settings with members of the judiciary;Some (at least one year) supervisory experience; andSome (at least one year) educational program management experience.Preferred Qualifications:A JD, or be in the process of acquiring a JD from an accredited law school program with at least one year of law school completed; andExposure to the integration of law and economics in educational programs through at least two years of experience in a university-based center or think tank setting.
