Duties

• You will be expected to practice in the areas civilian personnel law, acquisition law; fiscal law, and ethics.
• You will also practice in areas Freedom of Information/Privacy Act, ethics/standards of conduct, and litigation related to these areas.
• You will be expected to supervise attorneys practicing predominantly in acquisition law as well as other Office of the General Counsel (OGC) practice areas including civilian law; fiscal law, and ethics.
• You will be called upon to perform and manage the resolution of issues in the full range of OGC practice areas including the Freedom of Information Act, environmental law, intellectual property law and the review of non-FAR based agreements.

• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

To be selected for the position, applicants must have at least five and a half years of relevant legal experience in one or more of these practice areas: acquisition law; fiscal law, and ethics. Applicants will be evaluated on: 1) The extent of their professional legal experience in civilian personnel and acquisition law, with an emphasis on acquisition law. 2) The ability to supervise or manage people; 3) Research, analytical, and writing skills; and 4)Oral communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish relationships, to work effectively with senior military and civilian clients, and to work as part of a team.

Familiarity with the Department of the Navy and DON OGC is not required, but is desirable. Applicants with a record of making significant contributions to the advancement of the DON OGC or equivalent Office of the General Counsel or Law Firm/Office beyond the day to day legal practice are desired.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Education

The successful applicant must have graduated from a law school that is accredited by the American Bar Association, be an active member in good standing of the bar of the highest court of a State, U.S. Commonwealth, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia, and be admitted to practice before a state or federal court.
