Software Engineer - Tech College

About the Campus Engineering Team:

Do you have a passion for helping others get started as a software engineer? As a software engineer, you know that even with a degree in Computer Science or a related technical major, getting a job as a software engineer out of college can often be an intimidating and strenuous process. The Capital One Campus Engineering Team looks to ease that process through numerous Tech Campus Programs targeting students of all backgrounds. Capital One's Tech Campus Programs are at the forefront of attracting, sourcing, and developing future tech leaders. We aspire to provide a best in-class experience for our interns and associates, and our campus engineers are integral to that.

Responsibilities:
  • Work with engineers and subject matter experts to create and refine technical course content
  • Create natural flow for technical curriculum and lesson plans of several campus programs
  • Ability to analyze code to provide meaningful written and live feedback
  • Provide coaching and mentorship
  • Implement a variety of learning techniques to accommodate different learning styles in the classroom
  • Remain up-to-date on technologies critical to all campus programs
  • Identify and research emerging technologies that would benefit the target audience
  • Create a relaxed, enjoyable and inclusive learning environment for all students
  • Facilitate train-the-trainer sessions


What You'll Bring:
  • Demonstrated success teaching in a classroom setting
  • A positive attitude and passion for teaching
  • Knowledge of best practices for full stack development and/or mobile development
  • Experience with test-driven development practices using modern testing frameworks
  • Experience with responsive design
  • Comfortable working with Git for version control


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 2 years of experience in software development
  • At least 1 year experience with GitHub


Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least 1 year of technology instruction experience
  • 2+ years of technology instruction experience in a school or enterprise environment
  • 3+ years of experience in at least one of the following: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Node.js, Angular, React, Go, Java, Python, Kotlin, or Swift
  • 1+ year of experience in Agile
  • 1+ year experience with Amazon Web Services
  • 1+ year of experience leveraging Docker or Kubernetes
