Provides accurate and timely radiographic services to the public. Prepares x-rays and obtains required documents for clinician’s review. Takes and processes chest x-rays of possible tuberculosis clients using established radiographic principles for various clinics as scheduled. Follows x-ray exposure safety procedures and maintains/monitors equipment. Maintains electronic database, completes data entry and correspondence. Receives incoming telephone calls and responds to inquiries. Provides day to day administrative assistant support to x-ray appointment clients such as data entry, appointment scheduling, billing, follow up and answering service related questions. Position travels to and from other district offices as needed. Performs other duties as assigned for the benefit of the Health Department.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:

Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to: high school graduation or a GED issued by a state department of education; plus graduation from an approved educational program for radiologic technologist.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:

Virginia Board of Medicine license to practice as a Radiologic Technologist
Driver's License
CPR (Required within 60 days)
AED (Required within 60 days

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience working in a public health or community health services setting providing preventive health services.
  • Preferred candidate will have experience working with diverse populations using a multi-disciplinary team approach for service delivery.
  • Possess strong critical thinking skills, demonstrate problem-solving skills, and the ability to exercise sound judgment.
  • Ideal candidate will have experience performing X-rays in a high volume setting.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member; experience working on interdisciplinary teams.
  • Models outstanding customer service skills with the ability to establish and maintain collaborative connections with internal and external partners.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other software applications such as an electronic medical records system.
  • Demonstrates continuous learning and professional development opportunities to enhance personal and professional growth.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, a child protective services registry, a driving record check, and sanction screenings to the satisfaction of the employer.

All newly hired employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (two weeks after the last required dose) as a condition of employment or obtain approval of a medical or religious exemption prior to their start date. Proof of an exemption or vaccination status will be required during the pre-employment onboarding process. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Job is generally sedentary in nature, and requires walking, standing, sitting (for long periods of time), and kneeling, reaching, bending, climbing stairs; carry equipment or young children up to 25 pounds in weight. Uses hands to grasp, handle, or feel. Visual acuity is required to read data on a computer monitor; ability to operate keyboard driven equipment and computer. Ability to drive a vehicle. Position frequently communicates and must be able to exchange accurate information with others verbally and in writing. Generally, works in an office environment yet may occasionally be required to perform job duties outside of the typical office setting. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
