Sr. Manager, Software Engineering, Front End (Remote Eligible)

We are seeking a software engineering leader who is passionate about using cutting-edge open source frameworks with emerging technologies. You will join our card customer experience teams focused on building multiple user experiences in an effort to better understand our customers and deliver what they need in a changing market. As a Capital One software engineering leader, you'll have the opportunity to be on the forefront of driving a major transformation within Capital One while having a high impact on customers.

As a Capital One Senior Manager in Software Engineering, you'll lead teams that work on everything from customer-facing web and mobile applications using cutting-edge open source frameworks, to highly-available RESTful services, to back-end Java based systems using the hottest techniques in Big Data. You'll bring solid experience in emerging and traditional technologies such as: node.js, Java, AngularJS, React, Python, Go, REST, JSON, HTML / CSS, TypeScript, Open Source RDBMS and NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes, iOS, Android, and AWS/Cloud Infrastructure to name a few.

  • Lead and inspire teams who are passionate about understanding our customers and building an experience that delivers what they need in a changing market
  • Collaborate with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions that drive powerful experiences to help millions of Americans achieve financial empowerment
  • Work with a team of developers with deep technology experience across varied backgrounds to build effective, eye-catching customer experiences
  • Continuously improve software engineering practices
  • Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across our customer experience platforms
  • Lead the craftsmanship and scalability of your solutions
  • Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community
  • Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity
  • Lead, mentor, and coach teams of engineers and partners across job families

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 8 years of experience in software engineering (Internship experience does not apply)
  • At least 1 year experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
  • At least 4 years of people management experience


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree
  • 7+ years of experience in at least one of the following: JavaScript, TypeScript, Node JS, Angular, or React
  • 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure, or another cloud service
  • 4+ years of experience in open source frameworks
  • 6+ years of people management experience
  • 2+ years of experience in Agile practices
