Lead Counsel, Product
Facebook seeks a highly motivated attorney who is enthusiastic about technology and its potential for positive impact in peoples' lives to join Facebook's product counseling legal team. This role will focus on supporting Facebook's business messaging products which include Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, and more. It will require significant cross-functional collaboration with product, engineering, policy, operations, and business teams, as well as other legal subject matter experts. Lead Counsel, Product Responsibilities: Review global products, features, platforms and initiatives to provide practical legal risk mitigation strategies for products across multiple jurisdictionsProvide and coordinate legal advice across complex and multifaceted legal issues such as data protection and privacy, intermediary liability, consumer protection, security, e-commerce, payments, integrity and other global legal frameworks applicable to the product you are supportingCoordinate with public policy, communications, product management, engineering, product marketing, trust and safety, and other cross-functional teams on external communications, policy development, and product development and launches Minimum Qualifications:Experience working on multiple projects at once in a fast-paced environmentProven problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skillsExperience working independently and cross-functionally5+ years of legal experience as a practicing attorney (including at a law firm or in-house experience) or relevant privacy experienceJ.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one US state bar Preferred Qualifications:In-house experience at a technology companyExperience in product counseling role building and supporting productsExperience advising clients on risk mitigation across technology product platformsPrivacy experience, including with international data protection frameworks Facebook is proud to be an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer.
