Job Summary

As a member of the EDML Chief of Staff team and as the Finance Tech Chief of Staff, you will drive the strategy, operations, facilitation and execution of the Finance Tech organization's goals. You will instantiate the operating rhythm of the organization, leveraging feedback, data and insights to constantly improve the organization's execution. You will lead with a customer first perspective as the key principle to prioritization and planning. You will promote and cultivate our people, our talent and our company culture. You will own important and exciting deliverables from day one, requiring strong relationships with smart and passionate leaders across the company to develop necessary strategic partnerships and simplify the delivery and execution of the organization and company goals. Organizational Summary

The EDML (Enterprise. Data. Machine Learning.) organization delivers exceptional technology, products, services and processes to support our Data and Machine Learning ecosystems as well as our core functions to support our holistic operations for Capital One as an enterprise. EDML consists of 5 towers (Center for Machine Learning (C4ML), Risk Tech, Finance Tech, People Tech, and Enterprise Data) and a Horizontal Chief of Staff office supporting all the towers. We have ~1,700 associates in our EDML organization and are located across various geographies including: Richmond, NoVA, NYC, Boston, San Francisco, and Plano.

Fianance Tech is a close-knit family of ~280 associates dedicated, talented and diverse individuals and we are continuing to grow. Our Mission is to create products that support and enable the effective and efficient execution of internal and external customer needs, ranging from Travel and Expense to Regulatory/Financial Reporting and everything in between contributing to how we Change Banking for Good.

In order to be successful, the ideal candidate must be passionate about our customers, clients and technology. Excellent interpersonal skills, communication, analytical and leadership skills will be critical for success. Success depends on building rapport and credibility with multiple stakeholders across the organization. The candidate must be a strategic leader that is naturally agile and flexible in fast-changing and undefined situations.

  • Serve as a central point of contact between the Finance Tech MVP , his leadership team (LT), and the Finance Tech Organization, as well as with the EDML Chief of Staff team, and other key partners.
  • Develop, own and execute the organization strategy, vision and goals, in partnership with the Finance Tech leadership team.
  • Define and own the operations framework, the rhythm of the business, the measurement framework based on a single source of data and effectively communicate progress against Mission, Imperatives, Objectives and Key Results.
  • Influence, develop and own a principled approach to managing organization priorities for senior leaders and the organization, ensuring deliverables are met.
  • Be a force-multiplier driving the effectiveness of the team.
  • Leverage relationships to influence Business, Tech and partner groups on strategic and relevant issues and topics.
  • Partner closely with your Finance Tech Leadership Team, Business Partners, and EDML CoS team to develop and execute workforce strategy, associate recruiting, headcount management, decomposed into tactical projects and deliverables.
  • Partner closely with the CoS team & Finance team to develop mechanisms that ensure the organization continuously stays on budget targets, and meets financial commitments, with continued focus on improving financial management processes.
  • Partner closely with the CoS Team, Cyber and Risk partners to ensure our security and risk management posture remains strong, and build appropriate mechanisms to track and report status and progress.
  • Be a leader and driver of Associate engagement within Finance Tech - considering how leadership engages across various levels of associates, regular communication channels such as All Hands and Leadership offsites, ensuring awareness of associate experience (AAS reviews, deep dives, action plans).
  • Partner with your Finance Tech Tower communications lead to define a communications strategy that integrates with the EDML and Finance Tech strategy.
  • Create and maintain predictable, published cadences to help Leadership deliver against its priorities (including associate engagement, LT meetings, Extended LT meetings, All Hands, Business/Examiner Reviews, associate surveys, etc.)
  • Provide timely planning and preparation for our leadership team for key internal and external meetings

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree

At least 7 years of experience in Project Management, Process Management or Agile Delivery

At least 5 years of experience in people management

At least 3 years of experience managing senior stakeholders across different business functions

At least 3 years of experience writing communications and presentations for leadership and non-leadership audiences

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA)

5+ years of experience in managing IT projects

3+ years of experience in strategy development

3+ years of experience managing diverse operational functions, such as staffing, budgeting, executing high-level meetings and events

3+ years of experience driving organizational change and operational excellence

At least 3 years of experience working with engineering teams

Experience in the financial tech industry

Experience working closely with executives

Experience in finance or budgeting

PMP, CISSP or CISA certifications
