Oracle Database Administrator
The Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board (MSRB) seeks a Database Administrator to design, build, enhance, monitor, optimize, and support Oracle databases in a Linux and Windows environment in a 24x7 environment. Identifies, researches, and provides recommendations for database architecture, operations, performance tuning, and system alternatives on both baseline Oracle databases and AWS database services. Assists data analysts with research requests and in determining the cause and extent of problems when they occur and makes recommendations to improve processes.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPerforms routine and advanced Oracle database development, planning, and coordinating, including base definition, structures, documentation, upgrades, long-range requirements, operational guidelines and protection, RAC implementation and supportPerforms routine and advanced database operations in AWS Cloud in Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle Databases on EC2Perform AWS Databases services such as Aurora database, DynamoDB, Neptune and Athena research, implementations, and management for Systems Modernization projectsAdvises on and tests the following database related activities: troubleshooting, recovery, tuning of the database, user security, RDBMS software installation and upgrades, resolving databases errors and failures, auditing activities and resource utilizationDevelops and tests changes for the database and database environment in response to change requests generated by the appropriate management staffProvides database technical support in maintaining and building the database non-production environments including database refreshes, database patch management, database space management, database performance tuning and migration/upgrade of the non-production database environments to LINUX/Oracle current versionsProvides database technical support for Technology and Application Delivery projects to include analysis of database design, performance impact analysis and application tuning, environment provisioning, security assessments, database build executions and supporting project deploymentsAbility to provision and support databases on both EC2 and AWS cloud servicesUnderstand CDK/Python and AWS CI/CD pipelines concepts and implementationsAbility to understand and implement AWS Database and applications High Availability architectures.Provides technical input to software developers and end users in the areas of hardware and database capabilitiesMonitors all database activity for operational improvements to include, but not limited to: CPU, Disk and Memory utilization, replication using Oracle Golden Gate and consistency of sites, long running queries, and query explain plans and overall performance of databasesManages access to databases to ensure corporate security practices are followedImplements changes into production environment per the change control board processProvides level 1, 2 & 3 technical support for database issuesPerforms other duties as assignedQualificationsBachelor's degree in computer related studies or three years of related experience with other DBMS software. Oracle DBA and AWS certification is preferred. Demonstrated solid knowledge and experience with Linux and Windows operating systems. Advanced knowledge of ORACLE DBA administration, database system and application tuning and recovery. Experience with PL/SQL development and Database cluster infrastructure.
