Deputy Auditor General

Description

Directs, manages and provides independent and objective analyses, performs appraisals, and evaluations of program, operational, financial, and compliance auditing activities of the school division.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, with major course work in finance, accounting, and systems analysis, plus seven years of progressively more responsible professional experience in financial auditing or related management work, some of which shall have included supervisory experience. A master's degree may be substituted for one year of professional experience. Certified public accountant required. In addition, an advanced degree or certification such as one of the following is preferred:  certified internal auditor, certified information systems auditor, or certified government auditing professional. Thorough knowledge of the principles, methods, and practices of public administration and good management; proficiency in quantitative analysis techniques; thorough knowledge of principles and methods of performance and financial analysis; ability to analyze and interpret data and reach sound conclusions; ability to evaluate procedures, policies, and internal controls and recommend improvements; ability to work independently within established policies, procedures, and guidelines; ability to plan work efficiently and effectively, ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with others; ability to work effectively under pressure; and ability to meet established deadlines.
