Principal Risk Specialist

As a Principal Risk Program Manager in Technology, you need to be a highly motivated Risk Management professional with excellent organizational and communication skills with a passion and innovation to drive solutions for mitigating potential risks to the Company.

In this role, You will partner with colleagues across ML product, design and tech to deliver results that have a direct impact on customer experience and implement risk solutions to ensure Capital One's continued stability and success. Responsibilities require partnering with a broad set of leaders and stakeholders to identify existing and potential emerging risks in an open, collaborative environment where new ideas and solutions are both welcomed and rewarded.

You will play a critical role in driving visibility to Risk Management governance and reporting. This role requires someone who pays close attention to the details, has strong communication skills, and someone with the confidence to challenge the status quo and drive step change improvements. This is a great opportunity for experienced developers or agilists to move into a Risk Specialist role.

Responsibilities:
  • Support ML platform teams with identifying risks, issues and events and create mitigate plan and driving execution of the mitigation plans
  • Communicate risk and governance standards to ML platform teams and educating the teams on the importance of these requirements to drive Well Managed practices
  • Support the development of risk management and reporting to drives meaningful conversations, accountability and awareness
  • Participate in risk/controls forums and contributing to continuous improvement of risk management practices and processes
  • Collaborate effectively with all lines of defense (testing, effective challenge and audit)
  • Provide oversight and guidance during risk/controls assessments (PLA, CBP, ARA, etc.)
  • Facilitate a proactive approach to ML risk posture and cultivate relationships cross-functionally
  • Deliver ad hoc requests to support broader deliverables for the ML leadership and platform teams, as needed
  • Analyze information to proactively identify risks, trends, and process improvements
  • Support and align timely delivery of regular monthly, quarterly and semi-annual deliverables, including research and preparation of content, reviews and approvals before delivery


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 2 years of experience in Technology Risk Management or Compliance


Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in project, program or portfolio management
  • Experience with PRIME or Fuse
  • Knowledge of Machine Learning
