Duties

The United States Secret Service, Office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO), Software Solutions Program, is looking for individuals to deploy and sustain software solutions supporting the U.S. Secret Service enterprise, Protective mission and Investigative mission. Software specifically correlates to commodities purchased or custom built software applications to include data, development tools and hosting platforms that provide these solutions accessed through a collection of IT peripherals including personal computers and personal devices. Duties may include defining, designing, developing, testing, implementing and sustaining data services and/or application services to provide software solutions using approved software development processes, engineering approaches and policies. Experience also includes capturing project data and inputs into development tools such as Epics, Features, User Stories and Test Cases; designing and developing software solutions as per business requirements; administering application and/or data services; testing software solutions against business requirements and communicating pass/fail results; submitting procurement packages and communicating solution progress, risks and issues to leadership.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

You must demonstrate at least one (1) year of the defined specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level and meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR).

Specialized experience: Candidates must demonstrate expert knowledge of software development or software engineering models and processes to capture business requirements. Examples of this knowledge is indicated by detailed experience in at least 3 of the following areas of Information Technology:
    • Software tools and processes such as database types and products.
    • Integration methods and products.
    • Intranet framework and products.
    • Geospatial information system framework and products.
    • Business intelligence framework and products.
    • Artificial intelligence framework and products.
    • Custom development techniques and frameworks.
    • Federal government acquisition process.
    • Communicating project status, risks and issues to leadership.

AND

Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) is defined as:
  • Attention to Detail - Identifies, addresses, and devises solutions to technical issues impacting IT operations, systems, and technologies; and financial issues impacting budget projections and allocations for personnel and equipment.
  • Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
  • Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  • Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

  • The full performance grade level is GS-14.

    Education

    Substitution of Education is not allowed for the GS-12 grade level.
