Principal Risk Specialist- (Remote Eligible)

Card Risk is seeking to add a high performing Risk Specialist to our team. Risk Specialists at Capital One are highly motivated Risk Management professionals with excellent organizational and communication skills complemented by passion for technology. They have a high level of exposure across lines of business and have the opportunity to create and implement innovative solutions to identify and mitigate potential risks to the Company. This position is specifically for the first line of defense to control and mitigate risks working closely with technology delivery teams.

Responsibilities:
  • Risk Consulting to one or more Technology Delivery organizations supporting Business Areas, providing advice and guidance in navigating our enterprise risk programs
  • Analyze and validate information to ensure data integrity, proactively identify risks, trends, and process improvements.
  • Monitor and Report on Key Metrics to proactively identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and leverage key relationships with stakeholders that enable collaboration across Divisions and lines of defense to achieve our objectives
  • Coordinate with applicable business areas to define/ implement remediation activities to improve our risk profile
  • Implement effective Change Management practices including communication plans, impact assessments, etc.
  • Lead efforts at various levels to ensure impacts that result from our innovative business processes are appropriately assessed, documented and mitigated

  • Ability to react quickly and seamlessly to changes in priorities and maintain delivery focus
  • Demonstrates excellent time management, bringing the ability to quickly put structure in place to manage work in a dynamic complex environment with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Employ a strategic approach to daily work, consider the bigger picture, anticipate outcomes and connections
  • Consistently demonstrates grace, composure, judgment and charisma under pressure
  • Seeks details to ensure all legal/compliance/regulatory guidance are properly executed and any potential issues are immediately documented, raised and resolved
  • Innovates frequently, offers ideas regularly, likes to brainstorm and solve logistical puzzles
  • Acts with the highest levels of integrity in all circumstances and brings commitment to being "well-managed" in all dimensions of work; able to identify process improvements and efficiencies
  • Ability to identify process improvements and efficiencies
  • Works to share information swiftly, strategically, and clearly both internally and externally to Card Tech


Capital One is open to hiring a Remote Employee for this opportunity.

Basic Qualifications:
  • At least 2 years of experience in Risk Management, Compliance, Audit, Data Engineering, or Technology Process Management
  • At least 2 years of Project Management experience
  • At least 2 years of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal business clients
  • At least 1 year of Agile experience


Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of Financial Services Risk Management Experience
  • 2+ years of Project Management experience leading cross functional projects and programs in Risk
  • PMP Certification or Masters Certificate of Project Management (CPM)
