Regional Operations Director

As Regional Operations Director, you have the opportunity to provide leadership to complex markets and teams in the Retail organization. You are responsible for developing a team of leaders that drive mission led performance. You empower teams to execute and support our Branch & Cafe network on their Operational Well Managed agenda. The Region Operations Director cultivates the plan through their Operations Specialist, that will clearly accelerate the team toward its strategic & operational goals. They are accountable for Operational Strategy for their Region, efficiency and effectiveness for the control, Associate experience, and well managed performance activities. You are a leader in the Region and responsible for maintaining Capital One's high standard of operational excellence in partnership with the Market and Regional Executives.

This individual will also partner with Market and Regional Executives, business partners and their teams to improve process efficiency, effectiveness, productivity and controls.

General Responsibilities:
  • Set the Operational Strategy for your Region (~100 Branches)
  • Demonstrate integrated strategic and tactical thinking to make the right tradeoffs that balance the team and broader organizational perspectives
  • Operate confidentially in "gray space"
  • Ownership for service levels, risk and compliance, and regulatory policies and procedures
  • Manage a large team of Operations Specialists
  • Empower Operations Specialists that are responsible for the Operational strategy and oversight of branches within their market
  • Identify, recruit, develop, and retain top talent in the local market
  • Build a deep bench of talent and be able to quickly develop new talent
  • Develop and deliver on short and long term plans to effectively execute team-based service levels and operational performance
  • Build strong relationships and work extensively with the Regional Executive leadership team to ensure business objectives are met while effectively managing market operations objectives centered around controls, risk management, compliance and operational integrity.
  • Maintain and foster relationships with key lines of business partners throughout the organization, and identify opportunities to improve end to end processes that lead to stronger and better customer and associate experiences.
  • Collaborate with Regional Executives and other business partners to support the deployment of new or revised services, processes, systems, or product delivery.
  • Lead a customer centric culture, drive continuous innovation, and champion change
  • Drive a culture that creates high performance and strong associate engagement at all levels
  • Some travel within Region and throughout National footprint


Work at Home Technology Requirements:
  • A secure home office environment that is free from background noise and distractions
  • A reliable private internet connection that is not supplied by use cellular data (hot spot)
    • Cable or fiber connections are preferred
    • Internet service download speeds must be at least 5 mbps, with 10+ mbps preferred - check your download speed using a speed test. A sample one can be found here . To test your home internet from your personal computer at home, type www.speedtest.net into the web browser of your personal computer.
    • Sustained ability to maintain latency less than 250 ms in voice calls is required
  • Hard wired connectivity is preferred, any use of wireless connectivity must be Private (non-public) and password protected through WPA2-PSK (AES) encryption. If you have any questions about your encryption, please consult with your internet provider
    • A private network is password protected where you have ownership or line of sight to every device on the network
  • Capital One reserves the right to request proof of internet provider, speed and service package from the associate
  • Requirements are subject to change, as new systems and technology is delivered. Capital One reserves the right to modify internet service requirements with sixty (60) days notice.

Basic Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification
  • 5 years of People Management experience or 5 years of Coaching experience
  • 5 years of experience in Retail Operations, or Banking Operations


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Accounting or Finance
  • 5 + years of experience leading multiple teams, stores, or functions with a distributed geography
  • 7 + years of Retail Branch Banking Operations
