Department of Global and Community Health - Term Instructional Faculty - Open Rank The George Mason University, Department of Global and Community Health, invites applications for two full-time term faculty members (9-month, non-tenure track, state-funded) starting August 2022. Rank is open. The key areas of instructional expertise required are in anatomy and physiology, and in public health practice, leadership, and program planning and evaluation. We offer degrees accredited by the Council on Education in Public Health (CEPH) at the undergraduate, masters and doctoral levels. Our academic programs include: a BS in Community Health with concentrations in Clinical Science, Global Health, Nutrition, and Physical Activity; a MS in Global Health; a MPH with concentrations in Community Health Promotion, Epidemiology, Food Security and Nutrition, Global Health, Health Equity and Social Justice, Health Policy, Public Health Communication, and Public Health Practice; and a PhD in Public Health with concentrations in Epidemiology and Social and Behavioral Science.The Department's programs enroll nearly 600 undergraduate and more than 100 graduate students. The department includes 22 full-time faculty members with backgrounds in biostatistics, environmental health, epidemiology, global health, and social and behavioral sciences, who are committed to the ideals of health equity and social justice among underserved domestic and global populations.Responsibilities:Responsibilities for both positions include teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses, participating in university, college and departmental governance, professional and public service, and performing related instructional assignments such as supervising senior projects, student internships and practicum. The typical instructional workload is 4 courses per semester, with the option to teach over the summer. Teaching modalities will include both in-person and online, and possibly hybrid courses. The first position focuses on teaching a two-semester sequence of undergraduate anatomy and physiology in a lecture/lab format and may also include courses related to other aspects of public health. The second position focuses on teaching public health leadership, program planning and evaluation, and practice-based courses at both the graduate and undergraduate level. Specific courses for both positions will be determined in consultation with the department. Annual appointments will depend on budget and performance.Required Qualifications:Earned doctoral degree in a field related to the specific position;Record of effective teaching as the instructor of record for University-level courses taught in a variety of modalities -- online, hybrid and in person formats;Ability to work efficiently and effectively with a diverse student population;Strong interpersonal communication skills.Preferred Qualifications:MPH or MSPH from a CEPH accredited school or program of public health;Experience with successful methods of teaching and learning;Experience with undergraduate or graduate student mentoring or research.
