Job Announcement

Performs information searches, retrievals, and dissemination as part of the Overdose investigative Team. Supports key agency initiatives and strategic priorities. This includes data entry, searches, coordination, and information sharing through the agency’s software applications. Supports detectives with ongoing criminal investigations by completing administrative and research functions. Identifies commonalities in information, develop trends, and provide detailed reports as requested. Assists detectives by providing previously collected information and maintaining and updating records and databases. Participates in required meetings, testify in court, and work with staff across the agency to assure proper coordination and information sharing. Works both independently and in a team setting. The position will report directly to the Overdose Investigations Unit supervisor and the Commanders of Organized Crime and Narcotics. Works under general supervision.

The assigned functional areas of this position are Research, Analytics, Information Management, Criminal Investigations and Overdose Investigations.

Note: Effective July 2, 2022, compensation plans will be increased by 4.01% (market rate adjustment).

  • Performs a wide range of professional work in multiple administration functions within an organizational unit including analysis and project management;
  • Performs a variety of technical and professional work related to monitoring and reporting on departmental business processes, activities, and outcomes;
  • Plans, develops, and implements comprehensive communication and education plans on programs and services for both county agencies and community organizations;
  • Conducts analysis and reporting of quantitative and qualitative data in order to track and monitor various business process indicators;
  • Serves as the point-person and liaison within the department and with central county
  • departments regarding a designated program and functional areas of responsibility;
  • Prepares reports and presentations of analysis and findings.

  • Ability to identify and describe a range of possible solutions for solving business problems;
  • Ability to apply research methods to design studies and assessments, and statistical analysis techniques to identify patterns and trends in data;
  • Ability to use word processing and presentation software to prepare documents, and to use spreadsheet and statistical analysis software packages to store, manipulate, analyze and present data;
  • Ability to train, lead, and/or supervise paraprofessional staff.


Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in the field related to the assigned functional area; plus, two years of professional work experience within the functional area.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Prior experience working in a law enforcement setting.
  • Prior experience preparing and presenting information and/or reports using principles and practices of professional and technical report writing.
  • Prior experience providing case support to assist in criminal investigations.
  • Microsoft Office experience.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
All newly hired employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (two weeks after the last required dose) as a condition of employment or obtain approval of a medical or religious exemption prior to their start date. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to input, access, and retrieve information from a computer. Ability to go up and down stairs; use a computer keyboard and driven equipment. Ability to communicate with others. Ability to travel to other sites to aid in data collection and attend meetings. All duties may be performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
