Under the supervision of the Safety and Security Coordinator, performs professional level work to coordinate facility management and space planning and performs emergency preparedness, response, and recovery functions. Conducts, monitors, and evaluates Health Department facility- and security-related processes, procedures, contracts, and services. Performs space planning and evaluates facilities for department and emergency response needs. Designs, implements, monitors, evaluates, and maintains the electronic systems that guide facility- and security-related work flows and requests and tracks status of actions taken. Engages with relevant partners, property management companies, vendors, and internal stakeholders on facility management and security issues. Recommends changes and process improvements based on facility use, data analysis, best practices, and feedback from staff and subject matter experts. Manages large projects. Participates broadly across all emergency preparedness, response, and recovery programs and functions. Contributes facility management and security information, procedures, and best practices to emergency plans, trainings, exercise content, logistics, and operational strategies and tactics. Serves in a leadership role on the Health Department Incident Management Team.

Note: The functional areas of the position are: facility management, architectural design, interior design and space planning.
The hourly rate will not exceed the midpoint of $38.64/hr.

Health Department positions are designated as emergency responders in the event of a public health crisis. As a public health emergency responder, this position may be reassigned to provide support based on the emergency response service needs. The temporary reassignment may require employees to function in a role outside of the typical job duties. The emergency response may also require employees to work alternative work schedules to include weekend and evenings.

Employment Standards

Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in the field related to the assigned functional area; plus two years of professional work experience within the functional area.

Driver's license
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation - CPR (Required within 60 days)
AED (Required within 60 days)
Certificates of Incident Command Systems training- NIMS 100, 200, 700, and 800 within twelve (12) months from date of hire

  • Experience coordinating facility management and space planning, preferably in a public health or clinical environment.
  • Experience engaging with property management companies, vendors, and internal stakeholders on facility management and safety issues.
  • Experience managing office renovation and relocation projects on tight timelines.

The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, a Child Protective Services Registry, and a driving record check to the satisfaction of the employer.

Job is generally sedentary in nature, and requires walking, standing, sitting (for long periods of time), and kneeling, reaching, bending, climbing stairs; may be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs. occasionally. Uses hands to grasp, handle, or feel. Visual acuity is required to read data on a computer monitor; ability to operate keyboard driven equipment and computer. Position frequently communicates and must be able to exchange accurate information with others verbally and in writing. Ability to drive a motor vehicle. Generally works in an office environment but is also required to perform job duties outside of a typical office setting (e.g. healthcare facilities, county facilities or community locations, warehouses, shelters) including outdoor settings in all-weather conditions and nighttime hours. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
