Hiring Range Minimum: $46,295.00

Hiring Range Maximum: $55,554.00

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and Four years’ experience in administrative staff work. Working knowledge of reference and research methods and techniques used in collecting, compiling, and organizing data and information, working knowledge of analytical and statistical principles and techniques. Skill in the use of office automation software and its applications, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, to handle sensitive materials with discretion and tact, to present ideas and information clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; to perform mathematical computations; to present statistical material in chart and graph form. Ability to independently handle multiple tasks and set priorities. Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree.

EXPERIENCE: Four years’ experience in administrative staff work and general office management.

OTHER: Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Skill in the use of office automation software and its applications.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, to handle sensitive materials with discretion and tact, to present ideas and information clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to independently handle multiple tasks and set priorities.

Ability to document and development business processes that are linked to missions and goals.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with highly technical and business personnel with pressing deadlines; working knowledge of basic accounting principles for budget management.

Skill in reference and research methods to collect, compile, and organize data, in composing a variety of correspondence; in gathering and summarizing information; in interacting with students, public officials and staff at all levels; in planning, organizing, prioritizing and executing complicated and continuing assignments without instruction. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to understand and follow oral and written instructions; to project a professional and positive image of the institution; to make effective oral presentations; to supervise office operations and temporary staff.

Preferences:

Working knowledge of USM enterprise software packages such as KFS, Tririga, PCMS/TCMS, SharePoint, Google platform.

Completion of OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Safety and Health Certificate.

Completion of a Project Management or Program Management course.

Additional Certifications:           

Although not a requirement of the position, possession and maintenance of a Class C driver’s license or equipment, with fewer than 6 points, strongly desired. (Incumbent may make deliveries and pick-ups on campus; ability to drive a state vehicle desired.)
