Job Summary:
Westat has an immediate opening for a senior study director who will lead qualitative and mixed-mode research activities such as study design, protocol development, data collection, analysis, and report writing.  We are looking for an innovative, creative researcher to join our behavioral health and health policy practice area to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team focused on tobacco and related public health research.  Previous knowledge of tobacco research is not required.

We are looking for someone to manage the day-to-day activities of both ongoing and new qualitative research efforts, and who has a breadth of knowledge across various qualitative data collection methods and analysis, such as in-depth interviewing, cognitive testing, focus groups, open-ended surveys, and others. 

Job Responsibilities:
•    Collaborate with clients and with other staff to develop qualitative and mixed-mode study designs and materials.
•    Manage recruitment and data collection efforts for qualitative and mixed-mode studies.
•    Conduct analyses of qualitative and mixed mode data.
•    Prepare reports and/or journal manuscripts.
•    Contribute to technical proposals for government agencies.

Basic qualifications:
•    A master's degree in psychology, public health, sociology, survey methodology, anthropology, health policy, communications, marketing or a related field and a minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience with qualitative research is required.
•    A PhD in psychology, public health, sociology, survey methodology, anthropology, health policy, communications, marketing or a related field and a minimum of 2 years of demonstrated experience with qualitative research is required. 

Minimum Qualifications:
•    Excellent communication skills, administrative abilities, and the capability to handle multiple tasks while working with a team are essential.
