The Logistics Analyst III performs equipment performance assessments, utilizing reliability, maintainability, and availability (RM&A).
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development of new reporting dashboards and standards.
- Generate reports with minimum supervision.
- Assist with financial data.
- Conduct performance assessments of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) high technology inspection equipment by analyzing historical maintenance data through RM&A metrics, failure mode identifiers, statistical analysis, etc. to identify areas of concern, trends, strengths, etc.
- Use Microsoft Access and Excel to develop applications and tools needed to create customer reports (Power BI is also used).
- Contribute to the development and review of internally and externally generated technical documents, manuals, analyses, work instructions, etc.
- Interface with CBP customers at various levels providing both tactical and strategic analysis and support.
- Familiarize oneself with CBP high technology inspection equipment and become a subject matter expert (SME) for select equipment and equipment families.
- Record failure mode identifiers (Problem, Failure, Cause, Action Taken) in the historical maintenance database on completed work orders.
- Download a variety of technical data and update maintenance support databases.
- Develop dashboard tools using data visualization software.
- Apply process improvement principles to all application tools and reports.
- Travel to sites to participate in equipment relocation tasks such as site surveys, physical movement, disassembly, and/or disposal of CBP equipment.
- Oversee and train junior or support staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate degree OR
- High school diploma or GED and 5+ years of experience in a related field
- 3+ years of experience in data mining and data analysis or additional education in lieu of direct experience
- Experience in creating analytical documents and reports, like trend analyses, technical summaries, and statistical summaries
- Demonstrated knowledge of financial and data tracking and related principles required
- Microsoft Office Suite with intermediate level required with Excel (expert preferred), and a beginner level in Access required
- Experience with Power BI or similar data visualization tools is preferred
- Must pass an initial drug screening and will be subject to random screening thereafter
- Will be required to obtain a CBP public trust clearance
- The position requires a COVID vaccination or an approved accommodation/exemption for a disability/medical condition or religious belief
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to learn and retain information quickly
- Ability to plan and accomplish logistics support goals while working as a member of an integrated team that includes maintenance, logistics, and engineering
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs
- Strong analytical background/skills
- Solid communication skills (oral and written)
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and in a multi-tasking environment
- Prioritization and time-management skills.
- Mechanical aptitude is preferred
- MAXIMO or other maintenance management application experience is preferred
