Job Details
As a Social Worker or Clinical Psychologist you will:
•Complete initial intake assessments, which include evaluating the emergent nature of a referral, explaining the nature of services to referral sources, and identifying what types of services are needed
•Provide diagnostic evaluations of children with suspected psychological problems or developmental delays
•Assess family functioning, identifying the quality of parent-child relationships and the family's dynamics
•Prepare written evaluations, obtain relevant information from school settings, make home and school visits as appropriate, interpret the results for parents and other professionals working with a client, develop home programs, treatment plans, and educational plans
•Provide psychotherapeutic treatment to children and their families including individual play therapy, parent collateral work, family therapy, couples therapy and group therapy
•Consult with other professionals working with the client both at the Lourie Center and outside of the agencies, to assure coordinated and comprehensive service delivery
•Consult to professionals in the community including pediatricians, school administrators, child welfare/DHHS case workers regarding the appropriateness of referrals and the progress in therapy and ongoing therapeutic needs of individual clients at our Center
•Perform basic administrative tasks related to work assignments that meet COMAR requirements for OMHC including the timely preparation of written reports, billing forms, work schedules, and progress notes to document treatment sessions
Qualifications Include:
Social Worker-
•Graduation at the Master's level from an accredited school of Social Work or a related field
•Maryland Licensure at the graduate level or an equivalent
Clinical Psychologist-
• Psy.D. or Ph.D. in Psychology with a specialty in clinical/ developmental psychology
•Clinical psychology license, or equivalent, in the state of Maryland
•A one year formal clinical psychology internship must be completed; APA approval of the internship is desirable
•Progressively responsible clinical experiences at the predoctoral level
Both-
•Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required
•Expertise in theoretical approaches and diagnostic and treatment procedures used in providing mental health services to infants, young children, and their families
•Training and supervised experience with a wide variety of treatment modalities required
•Supervised experience providing psychotherapeutic services to children under twelve years of age and their families
•Must be able to collaborate on an interdisciplinary team in determining a diagnostic understanding and appropriate treatment plan
•Must have skills in oral and written presentation of diagnostic findings, progress updates and treatment plans
•Demonstrated expertise in the use of psychological evaluation procedures for children under twelve years of age (play evaluations, intellectual assessments, personality assessments, etc.) is required
•Knowledge of psychological disorders from infancy through adulthood is essential
