Under the direction of the Program Director, the Program Manager is responsible for high-level administration, organization, and communication in support of the Office of the Associate Vice President (AVP) for University Development, including supporting at least three Executive Directors, which the Program Manager will “dotted line” report to. The Program Manager will manage the organization of their regular meetings, events and activities, maintain agendas and briefings, and draft communications and presentations.

The Program Manager is also responsible for budget management and compliance, including tracking and managing expenses, and submitting travel approvals and requests for reimbursement. The Program Manager understands and successfully follows all State, University and UR-specific policies and procedures.

This individual also prepares fundraising progress reports, conducts prospect research, compiles giving histories, and meets other reporting needs as required by the Program Director and Executive Directors, using multiple databases.

The Program Manager completes additional projects for the AVP-Development Office, assisting with meeting planning, presentations, events, and planning projects. The Program Manager will participate in setting priorities for and independently manage multiple short-term and long-term projects within the Development Leadership team. They will recommend and execute additional ad hoc projects as needed to achieve the operational and strategic goals of the AVP-Development Office.

The Program Manager will also liaise with colleagues across the Schools & Colleges, other University Relations departments, and the Division of Research, among others. This position requires someone who is a self-starter who plans and acts proactively, with excellent problem solving and organizational skills, an eye for detail, and understands the importance of maintaining a high level of discretion and confidentiality.

Attendance at events during and after regular office hours and weekends may be necessary. Limited travel, primarily in the College Park area, is necessary.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree required.

Experience:
A minimum of four years of experience in an administrative or support role in a professional office environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Proficient with MS Office (Word, Power Point, Excel, etc.)
• Superb attention to detail, follow-through, and initiative
• Excellent communication skills including writing, proof reading and speaking
• Collaborative and interacts effectively with both external and internal audiences and capable of building strong work relationships in a complex environment
• Able to work in a fast-paced, executive-level environment
• Flexible and able to take direction, in addition to managing multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
• Able to manage work assignments with minimal supervision, proactively identify solutions, and respond effectively to short deadlines
• Able to research, collect, organize, and analyze information for executive-level staff
• Exercise good judgment in making decisions independently
• Maintain confidentiality and discretion in all matters
