Assistant, Hylton Performing Arts Center, Veterans and the Arts InitiativeThe George Mason University Hylton Performing Arts Center, Veterans and the Arts Initiative, seeks qualified applicants for an Assistant position. The Assistant will report to the Program Director of the Veterans and the Arts Initiative, and work closely with Hylton Center staff. This position is responsible for facilitating workshops, completing tasks during community engagement programming, and completing administrative tasks as assigned.Responsibilities and Required Qualifications:Bachelors degree in the arts, education, social sciences, health sciences, and/or related fields, or equivalent combination of education and experience;Attend and facilitate and/or co-facilitate workshops and special events for the Veterans and the Arts Initiative (including some weeknights and weekends);Interest in understanding of the U.S. Military and Veteran communities (and stay aware of news, opportunities, and changes);Interest in understanding of higher education workspaces and non-profit workspaces;Flexibility to handle a variety of tasks and shift priorities simultaneously;Enjoy working with a diverse group of community members from children through older adults;Ability to set up and put away folding chairs, music stands, and signs, before and after workshops and special events;Ability to set up and facilitate family-friendly Zoom workshops;High level of initiative and ability to work productively with limited supervision;Attention to detail in administrative tasks;Demonstrated punctuality, organization, and time management skills;Ability to work under pressure, in conditions with potential for ambiguity and quick change, and maintain a professional demeanor;Ability to efficiently multitask;Demonstrated advanced interpersonal skills;Ability to work as an effective team member; andProficient verbal and written communication skills; strong computer aptitude, including experience with word processing and spreadsheet software.
