Duties include:Oversees the creation, execution and management of event services;Oversees special projects for Center for the Arts and College of Visual and Performing Arts under the direction of the Executive Director of the Center for the Arts and the College of Visual and Performing Arts;Develops event analysis, standard operating procedures and reporting tools used by the Events team to evaluate and advise clients and senior management on event planning strategies;Manages, develops, forecasts and reports on budget for University Events and Operations to ensure ongoing maximization of limited resources;Manages client experience in the planning and execution of events;Manages event support for both live and hybrid events from concept to implementation to include lighting, staging, AV and broadcast solutions;Supervises and mentors a team of direct reports for live, hybrid and virtual events;Ensures quality employees are recruited, retained and appropriately compensated;Establishes expectations, goals and objectives for direct reports; evaluates employee performance and develops staff;Manages resolution of employee issues, ensuring that they are handled consistently with University policies;Manages the event support staff for live, hybrid and virtual events;Contributes ideas and viewpoints on strategic and operational plans;Makes decisions that are complex in nature and focused on ensuring departmental objectives are met;Consults with others for input on decisions; andManages projects by breaking the project into tasks, breaking down the tasks and subtasks; setting an appropriate schedule for the development of certain deliverables; defining milestones, and highlighting the project dependencies.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, marketing or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience;Key skills include event management, negotiating contracts and volunteer management;Proven track record of developing and executing complex multi-day events;Possess established relationships with event vendors and contacts, including hotels, caterers, site selection agencies and transportation;Extensive knowledge and understanding of theatrical lighting and AV equipment;Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and competing priorities at once;Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, registration database management, and experience creating and monitoring expense and income budgets;Extremely well organized and detail oriented, able to successfully handle multiple priorities simultaneously and consistently meet all deadlines and goals;Capacity to work well with a variety of personalities and leadership styles;Highly organized with a professional demeanor; resourcefulness, event promotion savvy and problem solving insight;Advanced verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills;Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends; andAbility to travel, a valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation.Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree; andConsiderable (generally five (5)+ years) experience in special events, meeting planning and/or public relations to include supervision.
