Principal Associate, Process Management (Controls - Installment Lending)

Looking for the opportunity to be part of a startup within Capital One!!! The Installment Loans Controls team is seeking a highly motivated Controls and Process Associate with a proven Well Managed mindset when it comes to controls design, development, execution and testing. The ideal candidate will have good organizational and communication skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to perform complex investigations dealing with internal and external partners. The individual will need to be able to evaluate existing processes/product features in order to build controls and monitoring, assess existing controls covering regulatory requirements and/or operational and credit risks to identify gaps and propose solutions for mitigating risk, develop test plans, ensure controls are executed as intended and control results are reported accurately and timely.

The ability to thrive in white space is a must as we stand up this new product and build a Well Managed Controls framework. This will be a challenging role in a fast paced and dynamic startup environment, requiring the ability to effectively multitask and prioritize assignments.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Building controls and monitoring to mitigate compliance, operational and credit risk.
  • Review existing controls to verify controls appropriately cover current processes/products, validate adequate coverage against compliance, operational and credit requirements/risks and in instances where there are gaps, propose solutions for control enhancements.
  • Draft and revise controls/test plan instructions.
  • Identify areas for process improvement or development. Assist with building processes and materials (i.e. narratives, process maps, reporting tools) aimed at communicating control/monitoring plans, results and overall controls framework.
  • Conduct control testing using appropriate systems, data and documentation and ensure results are reported timely and accurately.
  • Collaborate with teammates on larger initiatives; may participate on cross-functional project teams and provide input for process improvement initiatives.
  • Support information requests to aid in providing timely and accurate responses for audits/exams and other assessments.
  • Establish and maintain good partner relations in the process of building, executing or testing controls.
  • Strong ability to create and deliver verbal and written communications to stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications:
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent certification
  • At least 2 years of experience with Microsoft Office or G Suite
  • At least 3 years of experience with design or testing of controls

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 4+ years of experience with design or testing of controls
  • 3+ years of process management, project management, risk management or compliance experience in financial services
  • 2+ years of experience in audit, consulting, controls testing, or requirements management
