Population Health Center Office AssistantThe George Mason University, College of Health and Human Services (CHHS), invites applications for the position of Population Health Center Office Assistant. The mission of the Population Health Center (PHC) is to advance the public's health and eliminate disparities through the delivery of inter-professional health care, innovative research of consequence, and professional and workforce training. The Center accomplishes its mission through faculty leadership for academics and training, student-centered experiential learning opportunities, and research discovery and translation. The Center is a dynamic resource for CHHS faculty and collaborators, while remaining student-centered and serving our community.This is a grant funded full-time position.About the Position:The Population Health Center Office Assistant is responsible for welcoming visitors, patients, study participants and community partners, making sure they are seen in a timely matter. He/she will register, process and provide payment information. The position will be the community partner liaison.Responsibilities:Ensure patients and study participants complete all paperwork prior to meeting with provider and check them in;Open visits, schedule referrals and appointments through computerized systems;Answer telephone and receive patients at reception desk in a friendly and courteous manner;Coordinate and schedule behavioral health visits;Provide information regarding visit and answer any questions;Communicate with clinical and research staff regarding patient, visitor and partner needs;Monitor the lobby to ensure patients are seen in a timely matter and office flow runs smoothly;Assist visitors, patients, study participants, and partners with any questions or concerns;Billing and study subject payment;Ordering and maintaining supplies;Complete other tasks or assignments assigned by the clinic coordinator/director;Assist in collection and processing of bio-specimens (e.g., blood, urine, saliva) for clinical or research purposes;Assist with administrative needs of other training programs (telehealth);Maintain database of programs and partners utilizing the PHC space;Maintain PHC space schedule and parking allocation;Other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications:Demonstrated ability to engage with clients and visitors, and work well within the team and people in the community;Ability to work under pressure;Computer knowledge with demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite - Access, Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint; ability to use VPN and other virtual platforms;Clear understanding of HIPAA and other privacy and confidentiality procedures and protocols;Other administrative duties as assigned.Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor's or Associate's degree;Prior experience working in a clinical and/or research environment;Electronic Medical Records and data base experience a plus;Phlebotomy certification or willingness to obtain certification;Customer service skills: 1 year;CITI Training for Human Subjects Research;Fluent in Spanish desirable (but not required).
