Position Objective: Performs paralegal functions for the OGC office, including legal and general research; document preparation and filing; assessment and summation of legal documents; and discreet handling of sensitive legal documents. Assists with all functions of the OGC office, including database management; project management; workroom management; meeting planning; and general administrative support. Interacts with all levels of staff (while handling confidential information) and provides excellent customer service to staff and member companies.

Excellent computer skills - MS Office Suite, WestLaw, the internet, operation of listservs and project management. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Excellent management skills for overseeing projects, electronic databases and contract management. Ability to organize and prioritize a large volume/variety of work; detail-oriented; ability to appropriately handle confidential information; and work independently but seek assistance when appropriate and necessary.
Ability to edit and finalize complex commercial and legal documents. Ability to meet deadlines and work under stressful situations. Excellent proactive problem-solving skills and initiative. Ability to work with employees at every level throughout the organization and at member companies, including executive officers and staff. Excellent meeting planning skills and customer service skills.
Experience/Background: Two years of broad legal assistant or administrative experience. Legal assistant and paralegal experience preferred, but post-graduate legal education may be substituted.
Education: College or university graduate strongly preferred. High school diploma/GED required

Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with the Attorney, Corporate and Regulatory Affairs, manages and implements contract process, to include the following tasks. Serves as contact point for contract requests. Prepares initial drafts of routine contracts. Shepherds contracts through internal approvals. Maintains files and all agreements and tracks progress to ensure timely execution. Requires excellent computer, communication and organization skills to operate diverse programs and applications.
- Assists with work on corporate legal matters, including the following. Works with d the Human Resources department on personnel issues. Uses appropriate discretion in handling sensitive confidential materials. Assists Associate General Counsel, Compliance and Corporate Affairs with tracking and monitoring intellectual property matters for , CEWD and the Foundation. Manages billing and contracts for all contracts with outside counsel. Assists with the development of other corporate policies.
- Prepares, proofreads and finalizes complex legal and business documents, including regulatory filings, corporate legal documents and a variety of commercial documents dealing with a diverse array of matters. Uses excellent oral and written communications and good attention to detail to discuss, proofread, edit and check citations in legal documents. Arranges for filing and service of pleadings on government agencies and courts. Interacts professionally with all levels of staff and member companies, including senior management. Provides excellent customer service.
- Performs basic legal and other research on WestLaw, the internet, government- and industry-related websites (including FERC site). Researches, locates and obtains information and materials from other employees, government agencies, member companies, other associations and organizations, exercising research skills and sound judgment. Proactively solves problems creatively, using good judgment, resourcefulness and experience. Reviews the Federal Register daily and issues clear, concise weekly updates to EEI staff, flagging relevant corporate, environment and industry issues.
- Helps plan, prepare, run and attend OGC meetings, as needed, including biannual Legal Committee meeting and cybersecurity law conferences.
- Uses excellent computer skills to operate many programs and applications, including MS Office business applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), CoreIntegrator, NetForum, Real Magnet, WestLaw, GroupSite, the internet and other relevant programs as needed, and applies these skills to a legal environment. Manages electronic databases of templates and other documents. Uses executive administrative skills to draft and finalize correspondence, coordinate schedules and meetings (both in-house and off-site) on an as-needed basis; prepares and processes accounting and budget items; handles mail and mailing lists, telephone and other telecom matters; and provides general administrative support as necessary.
