Summary

The MIL Corporation is seeking a Financial Consulting, Senior Analyst (Forensic Accountant) to work with a Federal client in Rockville, MD. The primary role for this position is providing forensic financial analysis of records and data for regulated industry entities. The Forensic Accountant will develop analyses, assessments, and recommendations related to financial management activities. This role can be executed remotely.

Responsibilities

The Forensic Accountant will evaluate accounting treatments and financial activities for compliance with applicable statutes, regulations, and standards of the federal government. The Forensic Accountant will examine and analyze financial data to identify inappropriate activity, and will develop financial profiles of groups potentially participating in non-compliant activity. The Forensic Accountant will investigate the source of transactions and identify fraudulent or misappropriation methods. The Forensic Accountant will analyze the implications of a variety of financial transactions and business processes. They will compile findings and conclusions, and create in-depth reports, briefings, and presentations.
  • Conduct forensic accounting investigations of complex financial and business records to support Federal investigations.
  • Use financial forensic skill sets to investigate and analyze components of the financial infrastructure of regulated entities.
  • Audit, review, and analyze financial transactions and records, as well as other documentary evidence.
  • Examine records, books, payrolls, correspondence, and other financial data.
  • Compile, analyze, and/or audit complex financial business records to support investigations.
  • Trace funds to determine and track the flow of monies in pursuit of case development.
  • Obtain an understanding of financial, operational, and compliance risks through analysis of policies, procedures, transactional data, and supporting documents.
  • Own analytical project activities, including testing of evidence and identification of anomalies, by demonstrating high-quality execution and attention to detail.
  • Solve complex problems independently by following accounting procedures and have experience in evaluating controls associated with complex business processes.
  • Work effectively on an independent basis within a team setting to meet timelines and drive results.
  • Assist federal clients with conducting interviews during the course of the financial investigation.
  • Leverage technology and provide technology-oriented solutions in performing consistently changing daily activities.
  • Prepare high-quality workpapers that document the procedures performed and the testing results.
  • Prepare clear, concise analytical reports focusing on observations and recommendations and present in written and verbal form to senior client leaders.
  • Prepare detailed reports of findings for use by clients in support of federal investigations

Required Qualifications
  • Experience conducting thorough examination of complex financial data and records using accounting and analytical skills
  • Mastery of accounting and financial analytical theories, innovations, practices and principles to include an in-depth understanding of funding mechanisms and processes
  • Advanced ability to conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses, to apply statistical methods and formulas, and to draw logical inferences and conclusions
  • Experience in analyzing financial records and data and compiling findings
  • Experience preparing and presenting forensic accounting reports, exhibits, briefings, and presentations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organization and time management skills with the ability to prioritize among multiple competing projects and initiatives
  • In-depth knowledge of forensic accounting procedures and techniques
  • Experience conducting analysis of complex financial and business records to support forensic investigations
  • 5 years of overall experience in accounting
  • 2 years of experience in forensic accounting
  • Per federal guidelines, you may be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or willingness to obtain vaccination.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or applicable discipline
  • CPA, CFF-AICPA, CFE, or CIA certification
