Job Description

The Transport Center Coordinator (TCC) has an important role keeping track of production output and driver & vehicle resources. As the main contact for the Dispatch Office, the TCC regularly interfaces with the Circulation drivers, the Production Department and the Distributor contractors in the field. Other responsibilities include taking incoming phone calls, organizing nightly documentation, monitoring and recording timely dispatches and writing nightly reports. The right candidate should possess good communication and organizational skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities include:
  • Coordinate deliveries from our Springfield, VA plant to local distribution centers
  • Assures that each scheduled route is appropriately covered by utilizing available drivers and vehicles
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with contractors, distributors, vendors, drivers and various departments to facilitate the timely delivery and accurate distribution of products
  • Coordinate changes in dispatch schedule for delays and/or issues to assure timely dispatch and deliveries
  • Perform a variety of clerical duties and paperwork as assigned, such as manifests, sign-in sheets, timecards and nightly reports
  • Communicate with distributors and publication partners of product details, delays and other important dispatch information
  • Promote safe work practices and assist in conducting safety audits
  • Manage multiple concurrent priorities in a fast moving and deadline critical environment
  • Handle any special requests or order changes, as required


Requirements include:
  • Ability to work independently, solve problems and ensure work is completed efficiently
  • Effective skills in organizing, planning, time management, scheduling, coordinating resources and meeting deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proven record of reliability and dependability
  • Ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions under pressure
  • Assist in maintaining files and records according to established procedures.
  • PC knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of Newspaper Circulation Distribution is a plus
  • Prior supervisory experience is a plus
  • Experience with medium-duty trucks preferred
  • CDL Class A or B Preferred
