Job Summary/Company:

Sparks Group has teamed with a government contractor and is searching for a qualified and motivated Senior Accountant and Financial Analyst. The Accountant will be responsible for preparation and consolidation of Financial Statements, process improvements and Financial Reporting. They will perform ad hoc reporting for executive management, as well as assist with internal and external audits. The ideal candidate will have established and demonstrable strengths in accounting and finance, with knowledge of US GAAP and People Soft Financials. Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and analyze journal entries, income statement, balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other financial reports on a regular basis
  • Work closely with Office Management and Budget Services to execute and plan processes
  • Work directly with Federal funding
  • Document, and explain data for internal controls in support of audit team to include preparation of IFRS interpretations
  • Analyze statements and review/approve any proposed adjustments, prepare audit schedules and communicate with auditors
  • Perform checks to ensure data integrity and to spot/correct inconsistencies
  • Apply knowledge of laws and regulations and ensure compliance to regulations, policies and procedures
  • Provide input and supports the development of oral, written, and visual presentation materials for management
  • Support multiple projects, identify opportunities, and carry out ad hoc tasks


Qualifications/Background Profile:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required
  • 4+ years of experience in full cycle accounting, financial reporting or auditing required
  • Experience in preparing monthly financial and closing statements as well as performing detailed account reconciliations
  • Strong knowledge of People Soft Financials and payables; US GAAP skills, preferably GASB standards
  • Knowledge of automated data processing systems and financial systems reporting tools
  • Possess strong technical skills, intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills and Power Point
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to be able to work collaboratively with teams
  • Detail and process oriented; ability to work on multiple deadline driven projects
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret complex reports, needs and documentations
