Diligence Principal Associate - CODA

As a Diligence Principal Associate, you will prepare, under supervision, due diligence reports and workpapers to support credit decisions and make recommendations to Portfolio and Underwriting teams.

Due diligence is primarily related to Asset Based (ABL) and Real-Estate (RE) Loans but can include from time to time special agreed upon procedures. Work will be conducted under the supervision of a Director/Manager. Diligence consists of review of Company reports surrounding Accounts Receivable, Revenues, Cash, Financial Performance, etc.; along with substantive and analytical testing procedures. A Principal Associate may also work stand alone or as a member of a larger engagement team. Diligence Principal Associates should have the ability to multi-task and work in a tight deadline environment.

General Responsibilities

The Diligence Principal Associate will:
  • Be required to travel to various locations throughout the United States.
  • Perform fieldwork on existing and potential prospects.
  • Keep Diligence Directors/Managers, customers and borrowers informed on progress toward meeting deadlines.
  • Write and submit for review relevant sections of due diligence workpapers and reports under the direct supervision of Diligence Senior Managers and/or Diligence Managers.
  • Proactively promote and maintain teamwork, demonstrates maturity, good judgement and flexibility on all due diligence engagements.
  • Convey the characteristics of professionalism in attitudes, conduct and grooming.


Assigned Duties

The Diligence Principal Associate will:
  • Obtain an understanding of the client's business and industry and working knowledge of the client's system cycles and account balances that are within the scope of specifically assigned tasks.
  • Perform functional or substantive tests surrounding collateral, collateral risk and certain financial information
  • Evaluate and document the nature and scope of substantive testing as well as alternative procedures.
  • Identify any control weaknesses and other matters that may impact the collateral / credit of the client or the ability of the client to accurately and timely report.
  • Proactively communicate due diligence findings to the engagement supervisor or the Account Manager during and after fieldwork.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Military Experience
  • At least 1 year of accounting or due diligence experience
  • At least 1 year experience with Microsoft Office Suite


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting
  • 2+ years of accounting and due diligence experience
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate in a concise and clear manner with clients and internally, both orally and in writing.
