Under the general supervision of the Assistant Division Director for Operations and Logistics, provides critical support to the Division of Emergency Preparedness and Response (EP&R) and the overall preparedness, response and recovery efforts of the Fairfax County Health Department through various responsibilities, including, but not limited to logistics management, asset and supply management, and project management. Leads logistics-related projects and monitors industry best practices to ensure robust Health Department readiness.

Note: The assigned functional areas of the position are: logistics management, asset/supply management, and project management.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following: (Click on the aforementioned link to learn how Fairfax County interprets equivalencies for "Any combination, experience, and training equivalent to") Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in the field related to the assigned functional area; plus two years of professional work experience within the functional area.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
  • Valid driver's license.
  • CPR required within 60 days of hire.
  • AED required within 60 days of hire.


NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, a check of the Child Protective Services Registry, and a driving record check to the satisfaction of the employer.

ll newly hired employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (two weeks after the last required dose) as a condition of employment or obtain approval of a medical or religious exemption prior to their start date. Proof of an exemption or vaccination status will be required during the pre-employment onboarding process. New employees who obtain an exemption from the vaccine mandate for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs may be subject to a weekly testing requirement. Vaccinated employees and employees with a medical or religious exemption will complete the attestation online on their first day of employment or shortly thereafter.

This position is considered "essential personnel" and will be required to report to work regardless of the emergency situation (weather, transportation, other disaster).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in managing a logistics portfolio, preferably in a public health environment.
  • Experience in asset and supply management.
  • Experience managing medical supplies with varying expiration dates and storage requirements.
  • Experience managing a vehicle fleet, including managing maintenance schedules.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Job is generally sedentary in nature; however, job entails walking, standing, sitting, stooping, climbing stairs, reaching and bending; uses hands to grasp, handle, and feel. Visual acuity is required to read from paper and electronic devices. Must be able to lift from a ground position and carry up to 25 pounds. Must be able to operate computers and other keyboard-driven equipment and touchscreen electronics. Must be able to exchange accurate information orally and in writing. Ability to drive and operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid driver’s license. Generally works in an office environment but is also required to perform job duties outside of a typical office setting (e.g. healthcare facilities, warehouses, shelters) including outdoor settings in all-weather conditions and nighttime hours. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
